Job Summary:The Intermediate Specifications Writer will play a vital role in developing accurate and comprehensive architectural specifications for healthcare projects. This position also involves supporting the maintenance of the company's master specification base and coordinating educational sessions from product suppliers to facilitate staff education.

- Collaborate with project teams, architects, and designers to understand project requirements and develop accurate and detailed architectural specifications for healthcare projects.
- Assist in maintaining the company's master specification base, ensuring it reflects the latest industry standards, best practices, and project-specific requirements.
- Research and evaluate architectural materials, products, and systems to recommend appropriate options for project specifications.
- Coordinate with manufacturers and suppliers to obtain technical data, product samples, and other necessary information for specification development.
- Review and update specifications to comply with changes in building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Support educational sessions from product suppliers to provide staff with knowledge on the latest architectural products and technologies.
- Participate in project meetings to provide specifications-related input and address queries from project teams.
- Collaborate with the Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) team to ensure specifications align with the firm's quality standards.
- Assist in mentoring and providing guidance to junior specifications writers and other team members.
- Stay informed about emerging trends and advancements in architectural materials and products.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field.
- 4 years of experience as an architectural specifications writer, with a focus on healthcare projects in Canada.
- Strong knowledge of architectural materials, products, and construction methods relevant to healthcare design.
- Experience in writing comprehensive and accurate architectural specifications.
- Familiarity with building codes, regulations, and standards applicable to healthcare design in Canada.
- Proficiency in specification writing software and tools.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and precision in specification development.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to coordinate educational sessions and facilitate staff learning from product suppliers.
- Membership or affiliation with relevant professional associations in Canada is a plus.
