  • Unit Name : Progressive Care Unit
  • Number of Beds : 29
  • Patient Ratios : 4 : 1
  • Unit staffing description : Dayshift unit secretary and 2-3 PCTs depending on census. Nightshift has 2-3 PCTs depending on census.
  • Type of equipment : Welch Allyn dynamaps, Phillips telemetry, Phillips MP2, Pyxis, Alaris pumps, Hill-Rom beds, iMobile devices, MobiLab
  • Documentation system : Meditech
  • Patient Experience requirements : Heavy cardiac patient population, CV surgery patients come to PCU when they leave ICU.

    • Job Requirements

  • Cardiac / telemetry experience
  • PCU and / or critical care experience
  • Advanced skills needed : IV insertion, chest tube management, DHT insertion / management, tracheostomy experience, CVC management, EKG, Foley management, early patient mobility
  • Procedures performed on unit : Foley placement, IV insertion, wound vac management, DKA management, EKGs, DHT / NG placement, patient ambulation, ADLs

    • Schedule Information

  • 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
  • Self-scheduling (within reason to allow balanced staffing)
  • Schedule will be finalized 2 weeks in advance
  • Can accommodate block scheduling for night shift

    • Unit Specific Information

  • Unit Guidelines / Policies : Will be provided
  • Dress Code : Navy scrubs

    • Additional Details

  • PCU is very much a 'team player' unit
  • High patient satisfaction ratings and high-quality metrics
  • Travel RNs float before core staff
  • Self-scheduling allowed (within reason)
  • Great technology with iMobile devices for communication and patient chart access
