Your New Role – As a Park Specialist, you will provide administrative support to the crew of park rangers and the park manager overseeing a beautiful suite of parks along the Middle and Coast Fork of the Willamette River, Dexter and Fall Creek Reservoirs, and the McKenzie River. In this role, you will work independently, performing a wide range of tasks while meeting numerous deadlines in the park management unit office. You will support a variety of tasks related to accounts receivable, accounts payable, human resources, payroll, procurement, statistics, budget tracking, and other administrative functions. Additionally, you will work closely with park management and various departments at agency headquarters to serve as the liaison, ensuring compliance with agency goals, policies, and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Two (2) years of experience as an administrative or program support specialist. Administrative support entails those duties beyond clerical or secretarial such as: interpretation of laws, rules, and regulations; administrative data collection and analysis; evaluation and explanation of administrative processes, operations, or projects;
OR
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience.
Note: One year of post-secondary education may be substituted for up to one year of the required experience.
Special Requirements:
  • To be hired, a criminal record and driving record check must be completed that meets OPRD Criteria at the time of hire, and throughout employment while also maintaining a valid driver’s license.

  • Skill in performing technical or administrative program support functions requiring independent judgment and decisions under general guidance concerning a course of action to be taken.
  • Skill in communicating orally and in writing with a variety of people of diverse backgrounds, answering questions, and explaining to the public laws, rules or policies relating to a particular program, operation, or service.
  • Skill in using policy and procedure manuals, handbooks, or specialized reference materials to research information.
  • Skill in interpreting, explaining and applying laws, rules, policies, and procedures to specific situations, some of which may be non-routine, to process information and data, answer questions and explain decisions.
  • Skill in gathering and organizing data and preparing reports.
  • Skill in composing written communications such as responses to inquiries, narrative reports, instruction or training materials, etc.
  • Skill in operating a computer terminal or microcomputer to enter, update, correct and retrieve information, which includes updating computer skills and knowledge on an on-going basis to adapt to changes in technology.
