Your New Role
As a Temporary, full-time Park Ranger Assistant, you will perform, assist, and conduct various tasks to safeguard, maintain, operate, and repair state park lands, natural and cultural resources, structures, facilities, equipment, and systems. This will involve applying skills in building trades such as carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting, and landscape maintenance, along with specialized expertise in areas like resource interpretation, cultural and natural resource restoration, utility infrastructure operation, and park rule enforcement. These efforts will support the maintenance and operations of OPRD programs and properties within the Milo McIver Management Unit.
These Temporary positions are expected to work from June through September.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Six (6) months of experience (paid or unpaid) performing public contact or customer service duties (e.g. Teacher, Customer Service Representative, Salesperson, Receptionist, etc.) and/or maintenance experience (construction trades, landscaping, custodial, etc.);
OR
- Six (6) months of college in any discipline (24 quarter hours/16 semester hours)
Special Requirements:
- To be hired, a criminal record and driving record check must be completed that meets OPRD Criteria at the time of hire, and throughout employment while also maintaining a valid driver’s license.
Desired Attributes:
- Skill in interpersonal communication, providing excellent customer service to a diverse visitor base, and promoting a culturally competent work environment.
- Experienced in providing customers with information about facility rules, ensuring compliance, and identifying safety hazards or maintenance needs.
- Experienced in the safe use of tools, materials, and equipment for landscape, building, and facility maintenance, as well as performing custodial duties like cleaning public restroom facilities.
- Skill in using computerized registration equipment and programs.
- Ability to learn new skills to support maintenance and repair projects and collaborate with team members to ensure tasks and projects are successfully completed.
- Skill in maintaining composure and efficiency when priorities suddenly change or when unexpected situations occur.
- Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays when required.
