Position Information
Under the direction of the Point Defiance Marina Boathouse Supervisor, Assistant Supervisor, and PDM Technician, perform a variety of duties related to the maintenance and operation activities of the Point Defiance Boathouse and Marina; provide information regarding fishing techniques and sell supplies.
In the performance of their respective tasks and duties all employees are expected to:

- Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organizations.
- Observe applicable safety requirements, use safety equipment provided, implement appropriate safety practices at all times and report immediately any unsafe working conditions or hazards.
Provide information and assistance to Boathouse Marina visitors.
Assist in the general supervision of the Boathouse Marina facility and operation.
Assist in maintaining the content of the PDM Safety and Security manual and take the lead in training and drilling safety practices.
Provide work direction to and assist in the supervision and training of assigned part-time, temporary and seasonal boathouse staff.
Perform sales of boathouse retail stock; operate a computerized point-of-sale cash register system and sell tackle, food items, souvenirs, gasoline, bait, fishing and hunting licenses, launching and moorage permits, boat rentals and other merchandise; assure adequate levels of supplies and equipment are maintained.
Prepare and maintain a variety of records and reports related to daily revenues, inventories, attendance/usage and visitor injuries, accidents and complaints.
Maintain inventories and stock/display merchandise; clean assigned areas as needed; participate in the selection and ordering of merchandise; prepare purchase orders and price new items according to established procedures.
Assure the proper maintenance, storage and operation of boathouse marina facilities and equipment.
Open and close boathouse marina facilities as assigned.
Remove rental boats from storage area and mount motors; operate boatlifts to launch and hoist boats; clean and return rental boats to storage areas.
Launch and retrieve both rental and private boats by operating boat elevator system.
Perform general cleaning duties of boats, equipment and facility.
Perform related duties as assigned.
Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school or GED, some college level coursework. Two years of cashiering/money handling, customer service and supervisory experience required. Knowledge of fishing and boating techniques desirable.
LICENSES & OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Valid CPR and First Aid card.
Valid Washington driver's license with acceptable driving record required.
Current TPCHD Food handlers card.
Washington Boater's Education at hire or within one month of hire.

Boathouse marina indoor and outdoor work environment.
Constant interruptions from boathouse activities.

KNOWLEDGE OF:
• Basic boathouse operations and maintenance techniques.
• Fishing techniques, licenses, tackle and related supplies.
• Operation of a cash register, power tools, boats, motors, and hoists.
• Federal, State and local rules, regulations and laws related to boating and fishing for salmon, clams, oysters, and bottom fish.
• All Safety practices and procedures related to fishing.
• Basic accounting and financial record keeping techniques.
• Fire safety techniques.
• Operation of office machines including computer equipment and specified software.
• Local tidal and weather conditions.
ABILITY TO:
• Provide information and assistance regarding fishing techniques, tackle, bait and related supplies.
• Perform minor maintenance and repair to boathouse equipment and facilities.

• Operate tools and equipment used in a boathouse marina.
• Apply bookkeeping and financial record-keeping practices to the maintenance of assigned accounting records.
• Interpret rules and regulations.
• Perform emergency first aid and CPR as needed and according to established guidelines.
