Parks Tacoma is a CAPRA-accredited and AZA-accredited, independent park district that leads efforts to build a healthy, sustainable community. Join the exceptional staff of Fort Nisqually Living History Museum! The mission of our accredited museum is to engage a diverse regional audience with Puget Sound's first globally connected settlement through historic preservation, experiential learning, and interpretation. This internship supports our mission by assisting in the planning and execution of our summer events, which draw hundreds of visitors to the Fort each year.
Throughout this internship, the intern will work closely with the events team to provide high-quality experiences for visitors, assisting with the development and delivery of events. The intern will gain insight into what it takes to deliver successful events in a dynamic historical environment including event marketing, preparation, and day-of coordination.

- At least 18 years of age.
- Currently enrolled in an accredited four-year college or university with coursework in a related field such as business, communications, marketing, event management, or a similar discipline.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to convey ideas clearly and effectively.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Ability to lift at least 20 lbs. to shoulder height, walk over rough or uneven surfaces, standing for extended periods of time.
- Must have completed at least two years of college coursework at the time of the internship.
Hours/Schedule:
- Up to 20 hours per week.
- Shifts scheduled Monday – Friday; between 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Daily hours may vary based on your availability.
- Work is performed indoors and outdoors.
- Ability to communicate with district employees and customers.
