The full-salary range for this position is $37.78 - $46.96 per hour.

Position Information
Under general direction of the assigned supervisor, perform journey-level electrical work in the repair, alteration, construction, installation, and maintenance of Park District electrical systems and equipment.

In the performance of their respective tasks and duties all employees are expected to:
  • Perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision.
  • Interact professionally with other employees, customers and suppliers.
  • Work effectively as a team contributor on all assignments.
  • Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organizations.
  • Observe applicable safety requirements, use safety equipment provided, implement appropriate safety practices at all times and report immediately any unsafe working conditions or hazards.
Inspect, maintain and repair all types of wired and solid state equipment, instruments, apparatus and fixtures such as transformers, automated controls, electric pumps, trams, elevators, cranes, electric motors, breaker controls and ventilation and air conditioning equipment. work from schematics, drawings and blueprints.

Inspect electrical malfunctions and determine and effect necessary repairs or
replacements.

Perform journey-level electrical work in the repair, alteration, construction, installation, and maintenance of Park District electrical systems and equipment; work from schematics, drawings, blueprints and personal technical knowledge and training.

Install, inspect, test, maintain and troubleshoot electrical wiring systems and related equipment, including parking lot lighting, controls, circuits, wiring, distribution panels, starters, relays, regulators, fixtures, lighting, converters and generators; replace circuit breakers and panels.

Prepare sketches or drawings and prepare specifications, estimate time, cost of labor and materials for work projects; obtain competitive prices for equipment and supplies according to established procedures; prepare and maintain related records and reports; drive a vehicle to pick up supplies and equipment.

Repair, troubleshoot, calibrate and/or retrofit HVAC controls and other internal components, including programming of computerized building control systems.

Repair Sports Complex Lighting repair and maintenance; troubleshoot and maintain high bay lighting over pools and auditoriums; install conduit and pull wire above and below ground; assure balanced loads and mechanical protection; install or supervise installation of new or replacement transformers for high and non-high voltage electrical systems.

Install interior and exterior wiring and conduit for equipment and appliances.

Wire newly constructed and altered structures following approved safety standards.

Replaces circuit breakers and panels.

Install and maintain environmental control systems for greenhouse or aquarium, including hot water systems, humidity controls, geothermal, gas, radiant and refrigeration equipment.

Determine electric load requirements, electric distribution system and method, costs and materials needed for new or expanded electric service for Park District operations and special events, install electric distribution systems as needed.

Assure compliance with appropriate safety practices and procedures and with applicable federal, State and local codes, regulations and requirements; communicate with State and local inspectors for inspections and obtain appropriate permits.

Install, and repair permanent and temporary electrical equipment for docks and marinas, elevators, hoists, ball fields, scoreboards, concession stands and temporary power for Park District special events and activities.

Operate and maintain a variety of electrical testing equipment, hand and power tools, such as meters, voltage indicators, computers, various hydraulic equipment, bucket trucks, and others.

Remove electrical systems, equipment and components; replace and splice wire and conduits as assigned.

Perform related duties as assigned.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination equivalent to: completion of a four-year journey-level apprenticeship technical training program as an electrician and two years of journey-level experience as an electrician.

LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Valid Washington State Journey-level Electrical license.
Valid Washington driver's license.
Obtain a valid First Aid and CPR Card within the probationary periodENVIRONMENT:
Indoor and outdoor environment.
Driving a vehicle to conduct work.
Noise.

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
Kneeling, lifting objects weighing up to 75 pounds.
Climbing ladders.
Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate specialized hand and power tools.
Reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally.
Standing and walking for extended periods of time.
Bending at the waist.

HAZARDS:
Exposure to live electrical power supply and high voltage.
Working in a cramped or restrictive work chamber.
Working at heights and below ground.
Potential hazards working with electricity.

KNOWLEDGE OF:
Methods, practices, materials, tools, and equipment used in the electrical trade.
Electrical codes and regulations applicable to facility maintenance, repair, and
construction.
High voltage installation, tools and safety.
Technical aspects in field of specialty.
Safe working methods and procedures.
Shop math.

ABILITY TO:
Skillfully use tools and equipment in performing electrical installation, maintenance,
and repair activities.
Plan, organize, and lay out electrical work.
Accurately estimate labor and material costs.
Work from diagrams, blueprints, shop drawings, sketches, shop plans, and
specifications.
Maintain simple records and prepare reports.
Understand and carry out oral and written directions.
Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
Perform complex or varied tasks.
