Job Summary/Overview
The Landscape Crew Leader is responsible for leading, directing and supervising the landscape crew. The Landscape Crew Leader is a working member of the landscape crew, in addition to planning the work and assigning duties to each crew member. The Landscape Crew Leader, along with his/her crew, is responsible for the landscape maintenance of the common areas of the property. This position ensures that the company quality work practices and standards are up held and that all regulatory agency guidelines are followed. The Landscape Crew Leader is a highly visible position that has daily contacts with residents and employees and requires the utmost awareness of how actions and communications are received and perceived.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Supervise, mentor and coach, all members of the landscape crew.
- Inform supervisor(s) of crew member improvement opportunities.
- Mow, edge, trim, and blow, around buildings, roadsides, sidewalks, etc.
- Landscape projects such as shrubbery trimming or removal, thinning-out and/or removal of plants, weeds and leaves.
- Debris pick-up and removal.
- Sod installation or planting duties as needed.
- Perform other various landscaping tasks as directed by supervisor(s).
- Notify supervisor(s) of any deficiencies or problems observed around the property.
- Walk areas and remove anything that presents a safety or damage hazard for equipment.
- Clean and maintain all equipment, trailers and vehicles.
- Evaluate equipment problems and report them to mechanics and supervisor(s).
- Strictly adhere to all safety procedures and use the proper personal protection equipment.
- Attend all safety meetings.
- Aid with other positions and/or departments as needed.
- Perform other tasks when requested by superintendents or managers.
- Help in emergency situations as needed.
- Perform flagging duties as needed for safety
In addition to the responsibilities described above, the role may include such other responsibilities and duties as assigned from time to time, based upon OTOW LLC needs or requirements.

Working Conditions
The working conditions described are typical of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of the job.
- The majority of work is performed is outdoors and regularly exposed to wet or humid conditions. Exposure to high temperatures (95 degrees and above), low temperatures (32 degrees and below) and a variety of weather conditions is common.
- Use of gas and/or diesel powered mowers, gas powered equipment (Line trimmers, hedge trimmers, stick-edgers, etc.), hand tools (rakes, shovels, loppers, etc.). Occasional use of battery and/or gas powered golf carts and utility vehicles
- The typical noise level is loud to very loud.
Physical Requirements
Physical demands are those of a property management site environment. While performing the duties of this job, the individual will be required to reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and taste or smell; will regularly be required to stand, walk, and to lift up to fifty pounds; and will frequently be required to sit use hands to finger, handle, or feel. Vision requirements are close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Exerting 25 to 50 pounds of force occasionally.
Organizational Relationships
Reports to: Landscape Assistant Superintendent and works closely with all other members of Parkway Maintenance and Management departments.
Qualifications
Qualifications
Education & Training
- High School Diploma/GED or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Minimum six (6) months of internal experience with Parkway Landscaping Department.
- Minimum six (6) months of lead or supervisory experience preferred (additional On-Job-Training provided)
- Completion of the following internal training:
- Certified in golf cart and service vehicle operation;
- Light trailer operation; and
- ONE of the following: Aerial Lifts, Specialized Spray Equipment; Heavy trailer operation;
- Experience with commercial/residential grounds keeping techniques
- Experience with and knowledge of landscaping techniques and equipment
- Experience with various landscaping equipment
- Completion of any internal training as assigned by manager or Human Resources
Certifications or Licenses
- Valid Florida driver license (or ability to obtain within 30 days), with acceptable driving history preferred.
- Certified in light trailer operation,
- Within 6 months agree to successfully complete the following training
- Aerial Lifts
- Specialized Spray Equipment
- Heavy Trailer Operation
