Reports To: Building Principal/Special Education Supervisor
Work Schedule: 6.5 hours per day, Monday through Friday
Salary: $22,080.00 starting annual salary
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED
Must have a minimum of 48 semester hours of secondary education or have passed the PRAXIS PARAPRO exam
One or two years related experience working with students with disabilities is preferred
Must pass the written test or meet the educational requirements of the "No Child Left Behind Act"
Ability to meet the requirements and apply for an Educational Aide Permit with the Ohio Department of Education
Ability to work effectively with students, this may include students who display aggressive, abusive, or inappropriate verbal and/or physical behavior
Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively
Organizational and problem solving skills
Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing situations
Ability to assume responsibility for supervising students
Knowledge and ability to apply behavior management techniques in enforcing school discipline in an appropriate context
Must possess the physical strength and ability required to lift, assist restrain, or pursue handicapped students
Clerical skills; including knowledge of office machines
Previous experience working with computers preferred
Maintains a good attendance record and is punctual
