ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Ensure safety of students.
2.At the direction of the teacher, reinforce instructional plans and/or assist with instructional activities in small groups or with individual students.
3.Perform clerical tasks for teachers as needed, including record keeping.
4.Assist and supervise children in any instructional setting including, but not limited to: community based instruction, regular classroom, special education classrooms, lunchroom, playground, recreational/physical education activities, swimming program, field trips, or hallways.
5.Assist with behavior management of children as directed by classroom teacher using appropriate methods and techniques.
6.Assist students with personal health care needs within the confines of the educational setting (i.e. bathrooming, diapering, personal hygiene, feeding skills, etc.).
7.Assist and supervise arrival and departure of students.
8.Position and/or perform one-person or two-person lift of child when needed (with training from P.T.).
9.Maintain confidentiality of all confidential materials.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Review with teacher or IEP team to become familiar with students’ Individual Education Programs.
2.Follow a health care plan as developed by a Registered Nurse (which may include catherization, tube feeding, suctioning, etc.) with training provided by the Registered Nurse.
3.Respond and interact with children and adults in a positive, thoughtful, and appropriate manner.
4.Sanitize classroom equipment and supplies using approved materials.
5.Other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1.High School Diploma or GED
2.One to two years related experience working with students with disabilities is preferred.
3.Must pass the written test or meet the educational requirements of the “No Child Left Behind Act”.
