Our firm is dedicated to advocating for our clients at all levels of the appeals process, including the United States Federal District Courts. We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive paralegal to join our appellate team.
Job Description : The Federal Court Paralegal will support attorneys in handling Social Security Disability and Veterans Compensation appeals in federal court. This role involves a combination of legal research, client communication, document preparation, and administrative support. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, a strong communicator, and familiar with federal court procedures and local civil rules.
Responsibilities :
- Prepare, proofread, and edit legal documents, including briefs, pleadings, and motions, ensuring compliance with local civil rules and federal court requirements.
- File documents electronically via CM / ECF for various federal district courts.
- Communicate with clients to gather information, provide updates, and address inquiries in a professional manner.
- Liaise with court clerks, U.S. Attorney’s offices, and other parties to facilitate case progress and resolve procedural issues.
- Maintain case files and ensure that all documents and deadlines are accurately tracked and managed.
- Assist in the preparation of exhibits, indexes, tables of authority, and other supporting materials for filings.
- Monitor changes to federal and local court rules to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Maintain timelines, meet deadlines, keep accurate records, and be detail oriented.
- Coordinate with third-party vendors to facilitate the printing, binding, and shipping of paper copies of federal court submissions.
- Aid in tracking annual attorney responsibilities, such as continuing legal education and bar association dues.
- Education : Associate degree in Paralegal Studies or a related field, or Paralegal Certification from an accredited program. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience : Minimum of two years of experience as a paralegal, preferably with exposure to federal court litigation.
- Technical Skills : Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneDrive) and familiarity with electronic court filing systems (CM / ECF).
- Knowledge : Strong understanding of federal court procedures and local civil rules.
- Skills :

- Professional and empathetic demeanor when dealing with clients.
- Prior experience with Social Security Disability and / or Veterans Compensation claims.
- Familiarity with case management software and legal research tools (e.g., Westlaw).
