Roles & Responsibilities
Supervisory Duties:
- Supervise the daily operations of the Audio Visual/Sound team and any other assigned departments
- Lead by example, attitude, and as a representation of Adventureland Resorts core values
- Act as an approachable mentor and coach to all assigned team members
- Become knowledgeable of performing the essential duties of all AV/Sound positions and backfill these positions when needed
- Participate in all aspects of supervision of assigned employees, including hiring, orientation, training, performance coaching, and discipline.
- Ensure that all required meal and other breaks are being given in accordance with Iowa law
- Assist with team scheduling and timekeeping activities
- Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair commercial and professional audio equipment
- Operate audio and lighting mixers during live performances
- Prepare and maintain professional video display systems in accordance with large group presentations
- Maintain and operate surveillance systems, research incidents as necessary
- Provide support for all aspects of resort operations, including Theme Park, Waterpark, Animal Park, Hotel, Restaurant, and/or Campgrounds
- Develop rapport with department staff and entertainers
- Assist in planning, preparing, and executing Phantom Fall Fest and other hosted events at the park locations
- All other duties assigned by leadership
Education And Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent, preferred
- College degree or technical training in Electrical Engineering, Sound Engineering, Sound Technician, Music Production, Sound Production, Communications Technology, Radio and Television Broadcasting or related discipline
- 2 years of previous AV/Sound experience highly required
- Excellent computer proficiency and mechanical aptitude
- Knowledge of installation, configuration, and maintenance of AV systems and equipment
- Must be at least 18 years of age to comply with Iowa Child Labor Laws
- Ability to work flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, open to close
- Ability to frequently work hours that extend beyond 9 AM to 5 PM during the operating season and event set-up activities
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and a good driving record
- Basic knowledge of commercial and/or professional audio systems required
- Must possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient ability with soldering techniques is highly desired
- Must possess some mechanical aptitude and be able to use a variety of hand and power tools
- Ability to stand, walk, stoop, twist, kneel, bend, climb, or squat for long periods of time
- Ability to remain sedentary for extended periods of time, while using a computer
- Ability to walk long distances throughout the park
- Ability to carry, push, pull, lift, and hold objects weighing 50 pounds or more
- Ability to work in all non-conventional areas of the property, including in confined spaces or above ground-level, on scaffolds, ladders, and manlifts
- Ability to consistently use hands to grasp, control, move objects/tools
- Ability to see differences between colors and brightness
- Ability to see details of objects that are more than a few feet away
- This role will be based in both an office setting as well as outdoor Park environment
- Subject to frequent interruptions and requests that may require reprioritization of activities
- Frequent exposure to the variable outside temperatures, including high heat, cold, direct sun, humidity, dust, rain, snow, ice, and other weather conditions
- Subject to constant repetitive motion, high noise levels, flashing lights, bright light, vibrations, dust, and exposure to various chemicals
- Subject to working at significant heights greater than 100 feet
