This seasonal HSE Senior Supervisor will support the HSE Director with the development, implementation and maintenance of the park Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) management system to meet the requirements of applicable Palace/Parques Reunidos HSE standards and federal, state, and local requirements. In addition, seasonal Supervisors assist in the coordination of the park's overall safety and EMS Response, ensuring compliance with all local, state, federal standards and all policies/procedures established by Palace/PQR. Supervisors will continuously exemplify quality leadership for the EMS/safety team and provide oversight and accountability. Additional responsibilities include managing emergency situations and overseeing the seasonal safety department team members and daily operation.

Roles & Responsibilities:

This seasonal HSE Senior Supervisor will support the HSE Director with the development, implementation and maintenance of the park Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) management system to meet the requirements of applicable Palace/Parques Reunidos HSE standards and federal, state, and local requirements. In addition, seasonal Supervisors assist in the coordination of the park's overall safety and EMS Response, ensuring compliance with all local, state, federal standards and all policies/procedures established by Palace/PQR. Supervisors will continuously exemplify quality leadership for the EMS/safety team and provide oversight and accountability. Additional responsibilities include managing emergency situations and overseeing the seasonal safety department team members and daily operation.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Support the HSE Director with incorporating Palace HSE standards and local HSE requirements into park procedures and training
  • Assist the HSE Director with conducting proactive risk assessments to identify and minimize potential risks in all aspects of park operations
  • Assist the HSE Director by performing self-audits and inspections to verify compliance with HSE standards, procedures and applicable local HSE regulations
  • Assist the HSE Director with ensuring maintenance equipment, amusement devices, attractions, rides, facilities and other equipment meet applicable industry standards, as defined by local regulations, applicable ASTM, Parques Reunidos, and Palace Entertainment standards
  • Lead, conduct and assist in investigations for guest and employee HSE related incidents
  • Prepare and enter incident reports into the incident reporting and management system
  • Assist the HSE Director with developing corrective and preventive actions to address incidents
  • Assist the HSE Director with the timely and accurate completion of Sustainability and other required reports
  • Assist the Park HSE Director with data entry, and administrative functions of the department
  • Enter incident reports into the incident reporting and management system
  • Exemplify and maintain the Total Safety culture and work ethic set by the leadership team
  • Maintain SOPs and local protocols
  • Supervisors will have basic payroll and scheduling responsibilities (timekeeping for their staff, authorizing time worked etc.)
  • Train, monitor, and remediate the documentation and auditing process of new and existing team members
  • Assisting with accident investigations of guest and employee incidents, as needed
  • Responsible for Worker’s Compensation claims process including reporting, investigating & maintaining files, and record keeping
  • Maintaining First Aid, Injury & HSE files and ensuring accurate documentation while upholding confidentiality
  • Assist with data entry and reporting on a variety of HSE-related topics
  • Multitask under high pressure and emergency situations and delegate as necessary while maintaining communications with Park management
  • Oversee and perform inspections at various Park sites to verify compliance with Park safety standards
  • Supervise seasonal Safety and/or First Aid departmental team members in daily functions
  • Assist in the development of and conduct training for employees on Park safety and first aid procedures
  • Maintaining composure in dealing with guests, authorities, executives, and staff, under conditions of urgency and in pressure situations
  • Perform other duties as assigned and appropriate to the area of responsibility and to meet the needs of the Park

Education And Experience:

  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Bachelor’s Degree of Health & Safety, Emergency Management, Engineering, Sustainability, Industrial Hygiene, or related discipline is highly desired; Equivalent work experience will also be considered
  • 2 years of previous safety or environmental experience highly desired
  • 2 years of previous supervisory experience, preferably in a health and safety setting
  • Previous experience with health & safety-related investigations is preferred
  • Previous hospitality, amusement park, theme park, or waterpark experience preferred
  • EMT Certification in the state of Connecticut preferred but not required
  • NREMT (preferred)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and/or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certified

Language: Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English; Spanish or other bilingual language skills are a plus.

Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age to comply with Connecticut Child Labor Laws
  • Ability to work flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and a good driving record
  • Knowledge of OSHA, ANSI, NFPA and Life Safety Codes is preferred.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive park and guest information
  • Ability to address multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent customer service skills, ability to resolve questions, problems, issues, and concerns
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power Point.
  • Excellent interviewing, listening, and note-taking skills.
  • Ability to professionally and calmly deal with stressful and/or tense situations.
  • Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to collaborate with external first responders and emergency personnel.
  • Ability to apply knowledge of HSE methods, procedures, and techniques to specific situations.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand or walk for long periods of time
  • Ability to sit or stand for long period of time
  • Ability to walk long distances throughout the park
  • Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor setting for long periods of time
  • Ability to withstand heat, humidity, direct sun, cold, and other weather elements
  • Ability to kneel, stoop, or twist for long periods of time
  • Occasional bending, squatting and reaching above shoulders
  • Ability to carry, push, pull, lift, and hold objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to tolerate loud noise levels, flashing lights, and heavily populated environments

Working Conditions:

  • Exposure to the variable outside and inside temperatures, including high heat, cold, humidity, dust, rain, and other weather conditions
  • Exposure to a variety of stressful emergency situations involving people or property
  • Frequent interaction with all outdoor and indoor areas of the park
  • Some sedentary motion, while sitting and utilizing computer/camera equipment
  • Fast-paced environment with constantly shifting priorities and challenges
  • Subject to occasional loud noises and flashing lights

Internal: HSE team members; Security team members and leadership; Dispatchers; EMTs; All other park team members; Park Operations Leaders; General Manager

External: Guests; External first responders and emergency personnel; OSHA; Department of Labor; Other Federal and State agencies and inspectors
