Job title: Contractor Sales - Deck Specialist
Base Salary: Starting at $52k to $69k a year, depending on experience Commission
Schedule: Monday - Friday 7am to 4pm
Location: Bothell, Washington
The Deck Specialist's main responsibility is providing sales assistance to all customers purchasing deck material, including professional deck contractors. This individual must have a high degree of knowledge with treated deck framing material, all types of composite and cedar decking, deck hardware, railing, and outdoor living products. They will do this through a combination of phone calls, emails, and in person meetings with customers. They will use company approved software to design decks and create material lists and estimates for customers. They will help customers throughout the whole sales process.
Directly reports to the Division Sales Manager and interacts daily with the Yard Manager, Assistant Yard Manager, Operation Lead, Inventory Specialist, Contractor Salespeople, delivery people, and internal & external customers.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- 2 years sales experience preferred
- Prior experience in building materials or deck designing experience preferred
- Must be able to operate personal computer, smartphone, scanner, and any other equipment necessary for the job
- Must be able to type 30 WPM
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- Knowledge of building materials and their uses
- Specialized knowledge of deck, fence, patio, siding and associated outdoor living accessories
- Proven ability to develop relationships that translate into new business for PARR
- Ability to execute PARR selling strategies and initiatives
- Knowledge of PARR purchasing principles, practices, and protocols
- Ability to aggressively pursue the company's best interest when selling to customers
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable to daily changing needs of customers and PARR
- Ability to meet or exceed aggressive sales goals
- Must be flexible to different personality types and work habits, knowing that goals may be achieved in different ways
- Ability to concentrate and attend to detail amidst a busy office environment

- Must stay up to date on decking, railing, and other outdoor living products, applications, and installation

- Scheduling of meetings and consultation visits with customers
- Answer customer's questions, process estimates and orders for customer
- Willingness to set up and take the lead role in deck Expos and local Homes Shows
- Design decks based on customer's dimensions or drawings with company approved software
- Facilitate with our vendors and assist with product knowledge training for all team members
- Maintain deck displays of merchandise and literature
- Maintains clean and clutter free workspace
- Perform other duties as assigned
The working conditions for the Contractor Deck Specialist are at one of Parr's retail locations and on job sites interacting with potential and current customers. Working hours are Mon-Sat between the hours of 6A.M. and 6P.M. with potential for some after hours and weekend events.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to work indoors in a normal office environment for an entire day
- Must be able to grasp, talk, hear, and operate a computer and keyboard
- Must be able to occasionally lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds and carry objects 50 feet
- Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Must be able to drive a vehicle with clean driving record
- Both local and overnight travel may be required
