Job title: Truss Plant Manager
Salary: Starting at $103k to $126k a year, depending on experience Profit Sharing
Schedule: Monday - Friday 7am to 5pm
Location: Lacey, Washington
The Plant Manager must manage, direct, and implement sales, operation and production strategies, goals, and objectives to ensure the achievement of the goals of PARR's truss plant operations. This will include but not be limited to safety, materials handling and distribution, sales, customer relations, production scheduling, production, delivery, quality control, claims and preventive maintenance. They are responsible for meeting sales, margin, cost and profit objectives and for implementing initiatives to continuously improve manufacturing efficiencies.
This position directly reports to the Regional Truss Manager. They interact daily with employees and customers and regularly with internal personnel (e.g. Account Management Department, Sales, HR, and Logistics). They also interact regularly with vendor representatives and industry associates including PARR sales representatives and sales managers.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Prior experience as a manager in the truss industry preferred
- Prior supervisory/management experience required
- Ability to speak, write, and read English required
- Knowledge of management principles practices and protocols
- Knowledge of inventory procurement and contract negotiations
- Knowledge of budget management and cost control protocols
- Knowledge of Truss manufacturing equipment and computerized saws, manufacturing principles, practices and protocols
- Knowledge of home and commercial construction, remodeling and renovation principles, practices and protocols preferred
- Knowledge of the effects of "market conditions" upon the Truss component industry
- Strong interpersonal communication skills and experience dealing with employees and customers required
- Ability to aggressively pursue company's best interest when selling merchandise to customers
- Ability to prioritize work and manage time effectively
- Ability to concentrate and attend to details amidst a busy manufacturing environment
- Ability to deal effectively with a variety of personalities
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable to daily changing needs/demands of the facility

Duties and Responsibilities
- Demonstrate positive interactions with the public and positive interpersonal relations in dealing with fellow employees, supervisors, and other department employees, so that productivity and positive employee relations are maximized
- Support and contribute to effective safety and risk management efforts by adhering to established policies and procedures, maintaining a safe environment, promoting accident prevention, and identifying and reporting potential liabilities
- Maintain confidentiality and accuracy of all information related to company finances and records, particularly, cost of goods purchased and sold
- Create and maintain a safe working environment
- Achieve the truss plant's annual sales and profit projections
- Project a positive image to peers and subordinates, to customers, to industry associates, and to the public
- Prepare, monitor and control annual budget for the facility
- Continually evaluate and, as necessary, encourage change in the policies and procedures related to plant operations
- Supervise and direct the workforce at the plant
- Enforce all Company policies and work rules, and when appropriate take disciplinary action
- Establish and maintain a comfortable, clean and safe working environment for all employees
- Establish and maintain professional relationships with customers and vendors
- Identify and respond to the need for hiring personnel at your facility
- Identify and articulate performance expectations to employees
- Create and maintain a well-rounded staff through cross training, open communications and continuing education
- Maintain PARR guidelines and criteria for customer service
- Ensure cleanliness of your facility is maintained
- Ensure an appropriate level of inventory is maintained at the facility
- Review daily and monthly reports to identify and correct problems in a timely manner related to invoicing, inventory, payroll (hours of service), and sales transactions
- Conduct/monitor accident investigations
- Promptly report all accidents/incidents
- Promptly respond to customer complaints and concerns
- Continually update product knowledge and selling techniques
- Complete performance evaluations of employees assigned to your location
- Complete all monthly safety and fleet reports
- Effectively deal with occasional difficult people
- Effectively manage a wide variety of employees, who require varying degrees of supervision.
- Maintain a profitable plant
- Develop and implement local strategies to achieve consistent results in a manufacturing environment

This position splits time between an office using a personal computer and supervising a manufacturing facility. They work both inside and outside in all weather conditions.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work indoors in a normal office environment for an entire day.
- Ability to visit job sites in a variety of conditions.
- Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment at varying temperatures as needed.
- Must be able to routinely lift 25 lbs., occasionally lift up to 80 lbs.
- Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to stoop, bend, walk, and effectively communicate at levels normal for someone performing work with the general public primarily in a retail sales environment
