Operations Manager
Position Objective : Responsible for the efficient operation of a quality retail sales operation through supervisory and administrative work in the Gift Shop and within the Parris Island Heritage Foundation (PIHF)
Responsibilities are performed with considerable independence.
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES :
Oversees and serves as the operational manager for the gift shopSupervises the day-to-day operation of the Gift Shop; meets, greets, and assists the public in selecting gifts and other merchandise; supervises staff who are also engaged in service to the public, selling, and helping customers.Serves as a buyer, meeting with vendors and product representatives to evaluate and select marketable goods and gifts appropriate to the mission, programs, and events of PIHF.Maintains product quality levels in conformity with the foundation image and audience served.Manages the online gift shop and coordinates with the Director of Marketing (or Executive Director) on promotional opportunities.Ensures cleanliness and organization of the store, office, inventory, and storage.Serves as a liaison to the board of directors for Gift Shop sales, forecasting, budget, profit, and loss updates.Promotes and markets the gift shop through all base channels and off-base channels as appropriateParticipates in events both on and off base.Maintains email list of customers and promotes discounts, special offers, and updates through social media channels and e-blasts.Oversees all cashiering and receipts of the sale of merchandise by cash, charge transactions, and performs such duties as required; maintains sales records through the point-of-sale (POS) software; and sets profit margins to price items for sale.Reconciles and works with the foundation’s bookkeeper on daily reports and depositsPresents a monthly report to the Board of DirectorsMaintains a professional appearanceRepresents the Parris Island Heritage Foundation and its missionParticipates in meetings and events both on base and off base representing the Parris Island Heritage Foundation and the Gift ShopMaintains working relationships with the Parris Island Museum staff as well as across the base with other divisions, contractors, and organizations as appropriateINVENTORY CONTROL
Codes inventory invoices and submit them to Accounts Payable or PIHF bookkeeper for payment.Maintains an appropriate inventory level with the QuickBooks and POS software report and budget.Organizes monthly inventory of merchandise and stock, extends and prices inventory for use in preparation of monthly operating statements and year-end audit.Responsible for all UPS packaging including sorting of packages received.Process all internal orders for items used or purchased for the foundation.STAFFING

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :
College degree or equilvalent. Courses in merchandising and business administration; considerable experience in supervisory work and in sales and retail buying; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :
