About the Role
We are seeking an Operational Surgical Support Specialist to join our team. This role involves working as part of a surgical team, maintaining the integrity of the sterile field, and ensuring the safe handling of medications and equipment.
Main Responsibilities:
- Function as a member of the surgical team for invasive and non-invasive procedures.
- Maintain the integrity of the sterile field and ensure accurate counts of needles, sponges, and instruments.
- Prepare OR suites for procedures, anticipate supply needs, and handle equipment with care to prevent damage.
- Perform circulating duties, position patients, assist anesthesiologists, transport patients, and provide direct patient care when necessary.
- Participate in emergency surgical teams and respond promptly within 20 minutes of notification.
- Maintain accurate records of specialty instrument sets, restock carts, and update physician preference cards.
- Demonstrate knowledge of surgical procedures and function as a member of specialized teams.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A vocational or technical education in a healthcare-related field, along with relevant certification, licensure, training, or apprenticeship.
- 1-2 years of experience in a similar role.
- Current CST (Surgical Scrub Technologist) certification and BLS through The American Heart Association.
