Parsons is now hiring for an experienced Senior Civil Drainage Engineer to support work on infrastructure projects that change the fabric of our community. Parsons extensive experience in this field, combined with your engineering knowledge, will propel your career forward with opportunity for advancement with top performance. We need our Senior Drainage Engineer to be versatile, enthusiastic to work in highly flexible, team oriented environment and who have exceptional communication, analytical and management skills. In this role you will work on a variety of transportation projects completing drainage and hydraulic design, guiding less-experienced drainage engineering staff, and assisting in engineering management tasks. You will apply advanced engineering techniques and analyses which may involve CAE (computer aided engineering)/CAD (computer aided design) applications.

Salary Range
$83,300.00 - $145,800.00

Responsibilities
- Conducts hydraulic and hydrologic studies and designs for major transportation projects involving roadways, railroads, and bridges using required hydraulic and hydrologic software including: PondPack, FlowMaster, CulvertMaster, HEC-RAS, HEC-18, SRH-2D, RMA-2, HY-8, SRH-2D, Open Roads Designer (ORD), XPSWMM, and PCSWMM.
- Prepares/leads roadway drainage design layout for pipes and appurtenances as well as associated detention facilities.
- Prepares drainage design for ditches, culverts, and bridges over streams and major rivers.
- Prepares/directs technical report preparation, documentation, and other design deliverables for active projects in the office.
- Prepares/directs engineering computations, material quantity takeoffs, estimates, surveys, and designs.
- Prepares/directs, specifications, and other materials suitable for procurement and construction purposes.
- Leads the drainage design and frequently interfaces with other engineering disciplines as well as subconsultants and clients to coordinate drainage design.
- Provides technical guidance to drafters, designers, and junior engineers working on the same project.
- May be required to provide the seal and signature of the professional engineer, as appropriate, ensuring compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, and ordinances.
- May act in an advisory capacity to senior management personnel on engineering related matters.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (or related field) and 8 years of related work experience in drainage design, hydraulics, and scour.
- Professional Engineer registration is required.
- Proficiency in utilizing CAD and other PC software packages typically associated with hydrology and hydraulics is required.
- Specific knowledge of Illinois Department of Transportation drainage and hydraulic requirements is desired including preparation of Location Drainage Studies (LDS), Hydraulic Reports, roadway drainage design, and drainage system hydraulics.
- Previous hydraulic analysis for major rivers including hydraulic modeling for river bridges is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills to coordinate with other engineering disciplines and managers to function as a cohesive team. In addition, support and coordinate with drainage staff in other offices working on major national projects.
