Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medication Aide to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting in the administration of medications to patients in various settings, including nursing homes and home care environments. This role requires a strong understanding of medical terminology and the ability to work collaboratively with healthcare professionals to ensure the highest level of patient care.
Duties
- Administer medications to patients as prescribed, ensuring accuracy and adherence to safety protocols.
- Monitor patients for side effects or adverse reactions to medications and report findings to supervisor.
- Maintain accurate records of medication administration and patient responses.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members, including nurses and physicians, to develop and implement care plans.
- Provide support in home community care settings, ensuring that patients receive appropriate assistance with daily living activities.
- Utilize electronic health record systems such as August Health for documentation and communication purposes.
- Uphold patient confidentiality and adhere to all regulatory guidelines related to medication administration.
Requirements
- Certification as a Medication Aide or equivalent training is preferred.
- Experience in acute care, nursing homes, or home care settings is preferred.
- Proficiency in medical terminology and understanding of medication administration protocols.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment while demonstrating strong communication skills.
- Compassionate nature with a commitment to providing high-quality patient care.
- Familiarity with electronic health record systems such as Epic or Cerner is a plus.
