Our doors at Summit Academy North have been open for 25 years, educating students from Preschool through 12th grade. Located in Romulus, MI, our beautiful buildings are filled with over 1,600 inspiring students.

On any day, one can expect to find classrooms bursting with energy, as well as shared leadership, collaboration, and the freedom of our teachers to educate students to their fullest potential. We are recognized for our powerful mentoring program and year round professional development practices.

We offer before and after school activities for all students, including band, music and an athletic program.

Job Summary :

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Science Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in various scientific disciplines, a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment, and the ability to inspire students to develop a love for science. The Science Teacher will be responsible for delivering engaging lessons, assessing student progress, and contributing to the overall academic success of the school community.

Responsibilities :

  • Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that meet the curriculum standards and cater to diverse learning styles.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and resources to enhance student engagement and understanding of scientific concepts.
  • Create and maintain a classroom environment that is conducive to learning, fostering a culture of curiosity and respect.
  • Assess and evaluate student performance through tests, assignments, and hands-on experiments, providing constructive feedback to guide their academic growth.
  • Prepare students for scientific inquiry and experimentation, ensuring safety protocols are followed in laboratory settings.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to align curricula and participate in ongoing professional development initiatives.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and opportunities for improvement.
  • Participate in school activities, meetings, and events to contribute to the overall mission of the institution.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in Science Education, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.
  • Valid teaching certification / license in Michigan for secondary education with an endorsement in the subject.
  • Strong knowledge of current scientific concepts, instructional strategies, and educational technology.
  • Proven ability to engage and motivate diverse groups of students, fostering a love for science and inquiry-based learning.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in planning and assessing educational activities.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and staying current with scientific advancements and teaching methodologies.
