Position Summary

The QA Manager owns food safety and quality related functions. Perform systems evaluations, including assessments of food safety, quality controls and regulatory compliance as well as review of the department’s policies and procedures. The goal is to ensure a "best in class" food safety and quality infrastructure with continuous improvement. The position reports to the plant manager.


Responsibilities

  • Responsible for 20 person team with 14 direct reports. Manage compliance, sanitation and quality control teams for all shifts in 24/5 operating facility.
  • Maintain quality assurance systems, develop sanitation, compliance including training, personnel development, procedures, and tracking of nonconformance quality control incidents and product defects.
  • Lead audit readiness and continuous improvement processes to achieve excellence in quality system evaluations, including maintaining certification in Kosher, GFSI, Organic, Non-GMO, FSMA, BRCGS Gluten Free.
  • Responsible for food safety system, ensure regulatory compliance and corrective actions are complete.
  • The contact person representing the company in 3rd party audits, USDA, FDA, inspectors, regulatory bodies, customers and suppliers.
  • Point of contact for contracted services such as pest control, third-party testing, auditing bodies, Uniforms, and chemical suppliers.
  • Support development and launch of new products, by ensuring supplier approval, and ingredient assessments are aligned with Sales, R&D and supply chain.
  • Perform new equipment and new ingredient risk assessment and ensure validation as required. (Allergens, Cleaning, CCPs, new equipment.)
  • Ensure Good Manufacturing Practices are upheld and maintained.

Skills and Experience

  • Leading and developing people, giving, feedback and direction.
  • Internal auditing for food safety and compliance.
  • Root cause analysis and corrective action procedures.
  • Customer complaint and quality incident statistical analysis and reporting,
  • Writing and editing food safety and compliance policies.

Education, Experience and Certifications

  • Strong people management skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in food science.
  • BRC food audit: 3 years.
  • Experience in Quality Management.
  • 5 years of experience in food manufacturing preferred.

Ideal Candidate

  • Excellent prioritization and organizational skills.
  • Leadership, training, developing and supporting personnel by identifying skills and delegating responsibilities to team members, lead by example.
  • Developing and reporting KPIs for continual improvement.
  • Must have strong work ethic and willing to work weekends as necessary in order to compete all their tasks.

Salary : $85,000 - $115,000
