Qualifications and Skills Required:

·      Master’s degree in a human services discipline related to public health, health and wellness, and/or human services field, plus at least three years of professional experience; or Bachelor's degree in an appropriate discipline and with a minimum of five years administrative and managerial experience required. Preference is given to those with managerial experience.

·      Demonstrated experience working with community-based organizations, coalition-building, grant writing and reporting, and managing data and evaluation processes.

·      Strong communication, interpersonal, and team-building skills, cultural sensitivity, and an ability to work collaboratively with administration, staff, volunteers, elected officials, and community members.

·      Carry out work with an approach that respects the dignity, agency, autonomy, experiences, and strengths of persons served.

·      Proven ability to facilitate and coordinate diverse groups, including leading meetings, fostering collaboration, and guiding group discussion to achieve shared goals and outcomes. This includes comfort in public speaking and presentations to small and large groups of people of all ages.

·      Proven ability to manage staff and implement educational programs.

·      Must be able to multi-task and manage and track multiple budgets, event details, tasks, timelines, etc.

·      Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

·      Experience or strong interest in health education, chronic disease prevention, health service delivery, state and county government, and organizing community initiatives.

·      Maintain professional knowledge and understanding of issues related and approaches to public health, community-based work, trauma and resilience, social determinants of health, cultural humility, and equity.

·      Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and social media platforms.

·      Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

·      Passionate about working in a team-oriented environment that values collaboration, respect, and a positive workplace culture.

·      Bilingual in English and Spanish, spoken and written communication desired.


Position Description:

The Healthy Lifestyles Program Manager is responsible for oversight, management, and execution of community-based programming and education supporting healthy lifestyles in Yancey and Mitchell counties. They will work closely with the Executive Director, PATH staff, and community partners to develop and coordinate initiatives. The individual is responsible for logistical oversight of healthy lifestyle efforts and other duties as assigned. This position manages and supervises the Healthy Lifestyles Program Coordinator, and may manage others, such as interns.


Specific Responsibilities:

·      Work in collaboration with the Leadership Team (Executive Director, Substance Misuse Program Manager, and Executive & Resource Administrator) to coordinate long-term planning, implement and track the organization's strategic plan, and ensure the overall sustainability of the organization - including financial stability, workforce well-being, staff development, and long-term program viability.

·      Work with team members to develop annual and program budgets for healthy lifestyles initiatives, track progress to ensure appropriate and efficient use of resources, and manage oversight and adjustments related to programs and grants.

·      Management, supervision, and oversight of Healthy Lifestyles Program Coordinator and associated programs and initiatives. Programs have historically included Burnsville Fit Families 5K, Sizzlin’ Summer Series, Toe River Racqueteers, Summer Food Program, Cougar Fit Club, Healthy Yancey, and Community Ambassador Real Equality (CARE Team) initiative.

·      Coordinate program goals, strategies, and budgets with Substance Misuse Program Manager.

·      Administer relevant grants – including assisting the Executive & Resource Administrator with grant writing and management, and taking lead responsibility for grant reporting, including data collection, evaluation, and dissemination.

·      Coordinate data and evaluation efforts across the organization, including use of Clear Impact Scorecard.

·      Assess community needs, plan, and carry out initiatives for individuals, organizations, schools, businesses, and communities, including health education, programming, and activities. Topics may include chronic disease prevention, healthy eating, wellness, resilience, etc.

·      Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, program directors, and community agencies to enhance collaboration and avoid duplication of services in both Mitchell and Yancey counties.

  • Work closely with Program/Administrative/PR Assistant to inform multiple audiences about initiatives, which includes maintaining a regular social media, e-newsletter, and local media presence.
  • Support physical infrastructure development that promotes healthy lifestyles, such as parks and trails.
  • Reports to the Executive Director.

 

Additional Information:

This job description represents the major functions of the position but is not intended to be all-inclusive. Weekly in-person, site-based work is a requirement, with occasional ability to work remotely – full-time/40 hours per week. This position requires some evening and early morning meetings, some weekend work, and intermittent travel. Must be willing to work some Saturday mornings during seasonal events. Must be able to sit for extended periods while working on a computer, utilizing a keyboard and mouse, focusing on a computer screen for extended periods, with clear vision for reading text, reviewing documents, and monitoring multiple applications or windows. Must be able to lift and move up to 30 pounds unassisted. Must be able to set up and clean up for activities, including equipment such as tables, chairs, signs, water coolers, and getting equipment to and from storage areas. Must possess a valid driver's license, proof of liability insurance, and favorable driving history. Must pass a drug test and criminal background check prior to start of position.

 

Compensation:

Compensation range is $46,000-$54,000 annually - dependent on education and experience. Benefits include 12 paid holidays; 15 days of annual paid time off (accrued bi-weekly); 5 wellness/sick days; mileage reimbursement; Simple IRA with 3% employer match (eligible after 12 months of employment); $350 per month wellness reimbursement benefit; short-term and long-term disability; professional development opportunities; annual cost of living adjustments; and a family-friendly work environment. PATH is a certified living wage employer.
