Position: Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Site Leader (Environmental, Health and Safety Professional)

Compensation: Negotiable

Summary: The HSE Site Leader will work at a dedicated manufacturing site for a period of approximately 8-16 months, 40 hours per week, starting upon hire. This role will report directly to the onsite HSE Director. Limited travel may be required. This role is responsible for implementing all the HSE programs at the site with the goal of helping to drive HSE excellence and continuous improvement in all areas. The candidate will have good communication skills, both written and oral, and be able to work in a fast-paced environment with the ability to manage a complex workload. At the conclusion of this project the candidate could continue at Partners as an Environmental Professional/Project Manager.

Essential Duties

• Maintain all HSE compliance programs and support the creation of annual programs to achieve corporate targets in safety and environmental performance. Drive HSE accountability through all levels of the site from management to the shop floor.
• Provide day-to-day technical HSE advice and consultation to employees and contractors; conduct and document routine EHS (including security) audits and inspections.
• Lead the implementation and execution of HSE processes, procedures and standards; lead and facilitate joint employee-management HSE committees.
• Lead incident investigations (first aid, near misses, recordable, environmental and property damage) using a team-based approach to problem solving and six sigma tools to effectively implement corrective actions. Assist with workers compensation processes.
• Develop monthly awareness trainings and publications and deliver HSE training on regulatory, corporate-mandated and site-related procedures and measure their effectiveness for improvements including new employee orientation.
• Conduct job safety analysis, safety risk assessments, and ergonomics analyses of all manufacturing workstations and other site functions such as but not limited to office, engineering test areas, maintenance, etc. Also, develop, implement and review an appropriate risk management and emergency preparedness strategy to ensure the safety and protection of the sites and its occupants.
• Manage site stormwater permit, RCRA program waste management and act as a primary liaison with government inspectors.
• Develop and lead site specific HSE improvement initiatives such as waste reduction, injury avoidance and improved employee involvement.
• Develop, implement, and manage emergency response programs including adequate training and completion of drills.
• Manage the collection, storage, transportation, and shipping of industrial waste.
• Ensure the environmental management system is maintained per ISO14001 and drive continuous improvement in environmental performance, including projects to drive reductions in CO2 footprint and improvement in energy efficiency.

Education and/or Experience

• Bachelor Degree in Occupational Safety Health (Ergonomics) and Environment or a related technical field (engineering, industrial engineering).
• Certified in/or capable of obtaining certification in CPR, First Aid, AED, OSHA 30 Hour General Industry and Ergonomics.
• Knowledge in Management systems ISO14001, OHSAS 18001 (ISO45001), ISO26000 and other relevant programs. Ideally lead auditor in one of the standards.
• Full knowledge of OSHA & EPA Regulations.
• Knowledge and skill in using a variety of computer software, including word, excel, PowerPoint and able to learn custom applications.
• Skill in handling and prioritizing multiple projects and preparing and· maintaining accurate records, reports and files.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills as a reliable active communicator.
• A minimum of 2-years of industrial work experience in a Health, Safety and Environmental field.
