POSITION: Life Sharing Respite Staff

STATUS: Part - Time/Casual - likely to include overnight and weekend hours

SCHEDULE: Flexible to meet the needs of the program

LOCATION: Robinson Township

Citizen Care Inc., a subsidiary of Partners For Quality Inc., provides residential, day program, habilitation, supported employment opportunities and behavioral support services to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We are a non-profit organization, accredited by the Council on Quality & Leadership. Citizen Care has locations throughout the West Hills and South Hills of Allegheny County.

Responsibilities

The Life Sharing Respite Staff is a member of the Life Sharing team and plays an important role in supporting medically fragile children and adults supported in Citizen Care’s Life Sharing program. The Respite Staff will report directly to the Life Sharing Coordinator. Respite Staff provide direct services to supervise and support adults and children living in life sharing homes on a short-term basis for planned or emergency situations. Respite staff give the Life Sharing Partner normally providing care a period of relief, and support people with everyday needs including achievement of personal health and wellness goals as well as engagement in their communities.

Providing Supports, Interventions & Services:

  • Supporting people with typical daily activities including bathing, grooming, personal hygiene, eating, and dressing.
  • Supporting effective communication between the person supported and others.
  • Planning and preparing meals, including cooking healthy and nutritious meals, and following a prescribed diet when needed.
  • Maintaining the participant’s schedule of activities to the degree possible, including activities that allow people to engage in community and organizational activities of their choosing.
  • Implementing the person supported’s Behavioral Support Plan or Crisis Intervention Plan as applicable

Maintaining Health & Safety of the Individuals:

  • Completing tasks directly related to maintaining and ensuring health including but not limited to taking and recording vital signs, blood pressure, temperature, heart rate, respiration rate.
  • Following individualized care plans to best support the person’s overall health and safety.
  • Communicating all identified needs with the care team and family.
  • Lifting and transferring to assist people with mobility.
  • Supporting overall wellness for people.
  • Safely and effectively managing and administering medications in accordance with all Federal, State, and local regulations and all Citizen Care policies and procedures.
  • Completing all required annual training including medication administration, first aid & CPR.
  • Providing appropriate supervision to assure the person’s safety and welfare.

Documentation & Administrative Requirements

  • Maintaining the content, integrity, and security of all documentation, whether in paper or electronic format, which comprises the health and care record(s) of service and support delivered. All documentation must include person-centered and trauma-informed language.
  • Demonstrating proficiency in the use of technology in documentation (including but not limited to electronic health records software, Microsoft Office, email, payroll, time keeping, etc.). Accurately and thoroughly completes and submits timely, all required documentation in accordance with organization, program, and payer specific policies, practices, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Completion of other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma / GED
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Reliable means of transportation Valid Driver’s License, with excellent driving record
  • The ability to lift and transfer without restrictions.
  • Act 33, 34, and FBI clearances
  • Flexible schedule - willing to work varying days and hours based on the person/family’s needs.
  • Experience is not required

Minimum Compensation

USD $17.00/Hr.
