Partners in Careers is hiring a Career Coach to work with youth in Clark County. Career Coaches enjoy working one on one with young adults to perform assessments, develop individualized plans, secure/provide training, monitor participant progress, lead workshops, connect youth to community resources, and provide ongoing support to facilitate a successful job preparation experience and transition to employment.

The Career Coach’s role is to work with youth case managers and community businesses to support and deliver successful work-based learning opportunities to young adults aged 16-24 in Clark County. The Career Coach is responsible for delivering comprehensive workforce development, employment training, job placement and follow-up services at the Next Youth Center in Vancouver, WA.

Successful candidates for this position must posses the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships, work with a sense of urgency, maintain confidentiality, analyze and problem solve, and embrace the opportunity to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Passion for serving others will help candidates thrive in this position.

This position reports to the Program Director and may be functionally supervised by partner staff. Full-time starting salary range is $49,000 - $52,000. Generous benefits including medical, dental, vision, paid time off, short term disability, and life insurance. This position does require travel in Clark County and mileage reimbursement will be provided. Most work will be performed in person out of the Next Youth Center located at 120 NE 136th Ave Suite 130, Vancouver, WA 98684. Minimal remote work time is available.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Engage with youth through outreach and recruitment, orientation and eligibility determination, initial assessment and service plan development.
  • Provide work-based learning opportunities, including job shadows, mentorships, company tours, and career exploration activities for youth by engaging local businesses.
  • Work closely and regularly with each participant to help them meet their career goals using a customer service plan that prepares participants for employment.
  • Manage a caseload of participants by providing an assessment, skill building, vocational or occupational skills training, financial literacy, supportive services, paid and unpaid work experience, on the job training, job development and placement and documenting these services in accordance with program outcomes.
  • Provide follow-up services including but not limited to career and wage progression, assistance in the workplace and developing long-term strategies for employment.
  • Understand program performance measures and ensure participants are receiving the services they need. Using customer feedback evaluate effectiveness of programs and quality of programs. Take steps to continuously improve the programs.
  • Conduct timely, accurate and complete data input for registration and enrollment, status changes, exits/termination and post exit in the specified databases. Maintain client files in both hard and electronic formats.
  • Develop, expand and maintain working relationships with partners, employers and funders by identifying needs and solutions as well as establishing goals and executing plans.
  • Coordinate with other Career Coaches and Next staff to ensure youth are being supported in their efforts to move towards employment readiness.

Qualifications for the Job:

Education:

  • High school graduate or equivalent

Experience:

· Two years of experience in highly collaborative nonprofit or job coaching related positions is preferred; experience in WIOA programming a plus.

· Connections to local employers is desired.

· Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.

· Knowledge of working with diverse populations a plus.

Other:

· Passion for serving others

· Sense of urgency in reaching outcomes beneficial

· Ability to travel to various locations in the SW WA/Greater Portland area

· Must pass a Background Check

· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, work in a collaborative setting, utilize creative practices, and communicate with diverse groups.
