Description

The Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) is responsible for the comprehensive evaluation and treatment of an individual’s speech, language, and communication-interaction skills. The SLP will demonstrate professional competency in evaluation and treatment using special instruments, qualitative and quantitative assessment methods, such as; standardized tests to analyze and diagnose the nature and extent of language and communication impairments. The SLP will demonstrate competency in accurate reporting of evaluation findings, progress/status, and discharge documentation. The SLP will demonstrate competency in demonstrating medical necessity within documentation when submitting claims for reimbursement. The SLP is responsible for ethical counsel to individuals and their families concerning language and communication disorders; how to cope, critical review of literature and treatment methodologies, and treatment strategies and home program suggestions. The SLP is responsible for communication and coordination with others including client, staff, team, family, school, medical personnel and others to assure good quality of care. The SLP is responsible for accurate and relevant knowledge of the speech pathology discipline and its practice and contraindications for client care. The SLP is responsible to serve as a representative of the discipline within the organization by participating in program development and other duties in order to maintain an effective speech pathology department.

The salary range for this position is: $32.04 - $35 per hour. This range reflects the base salary for this position. Please note that the specific compensation for this role will be determined based on your experience, qualifications, and internal equity considerations.

Essential Functions

  • Provide screenings, evaluations and direct therapy to clients in a 1:1 medical model
  • SLP will manage client medical records to assist in determining evaluation and treatment plan.
  • SLP will evaluate patients to identify strengths and deficits
  • SLP will determine treatment plan, long-term goals, short-term goals, type, frequency, and duration of treatment
  • SLP will serve as a member of the interdisciplinary team to develop a comprehensive treatment plan.
  • SLP will maintain expected utilization and productivity requirements
  • Guide treatment team on how to properly implement and carryover SLP goals across settings
  • SLP will identify the rationale for treatment and recognize contraindications
  • SLP will continually manage client’s treatment status and make referrals as appropriate.
  • SLP will manage the treatment approach and methodology according to the client’s individual needs
  • SLP will maintain and complete accurate documentation of the client’s treatment status on a timely basis in accordance with organizational policy and regulatory agencies.
  • SLP will complete ethical and accurate billing practices on a timely basis according to organizational requirements and regulatory agencies
  • Communicates and work with all members of the treatment team and shares information with team members in formal and informal settings
  • Demonstrate dependability and consistency in therapy and other job related activities
  • Redirect, intervene, observe, and monitor client behaviors
  • Work with minimal supervision to provide direct therapy using skills, techniques and expectations detailed in SLP Scope of Practice and facility policies and procedures
  • SLP will initiate and maintain communication with appropriate care providers, i.e., physicians, team members, parents, insurance, school, etc. to assure effective treatment planning for the client, including and not limited to: telephone calls, clarification of treatment orders, treatment status, and education on treatment rationale.
  • SLP will communicate effectively in written and oral forms and adjust appropriately to audiences including physicians, payors, people with communication impairments, and school personnel.
  • SLP will demonstrate computer competency that supports SLP documentation requirements, therapeutic programs, and training documentation.
  • Attend and participate in meetings
  • SLP will provide staff and parent training on topics deemed appropriate by the organization and scope of practice guidelines.
  • SLP will demonstrate knowledge of current evidence based practices in speech pathology and communicate relevant issues to staff and others as appropriate.
  • SLP will seek to exceed customer service expectations through quality, productivity, and effectiveness of care.
  • SLP will fulfill department and organizational service delivery goals.
  • SLP will comply with all relevant safety, infection control, privacy regulations etc.
  • Assist in keeping the facility safe, organized, sanitary, and guide others to do the same
  • Organize and clean therapy space and equipment
  • Make sound decisions and use good judgment when dealing with clients, parents, and coworkers
  • SLP will be responsible for meeting department productivity expectations established by the organization.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to administer and write assessments/evaluations, treatment plans and progress notes in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to work within a team and comply with supervisory direction
  • Must demonstrate a clear ability to accept corrective feedback, comply with supervisory direction, and show a solid history of seeking and completing required and optional training
