What are the responsibilities and job description for the DC Power Engineer position at Partners Personnel?
We are seeking a skilled DC Power Engineer with experience supporting telecommunications and service provider environments. This role is responsible for the ongoing operation, maintenance, and optimization of DC power systems at network facilities, co-locations, head-ends and data centers. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with rectifier load balancing, battery sizing, HVAC system adjustments, and site-level power configuration and documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and adjust DC power rectifier output based on amp utilization to ensure balanced load distribution and system reliability.
- Assess site load requirements and right-size battery installations; deinstall and recycle batteries no longer required.
- Standardize HVAC unit settings to 76°F across equipment areas to support consistent site temperature control.
- Conduct routine site inspections to verify the operational status of rectifiers, batteries, and HVAC systems.
- Maintain detailed and accurate documentation for all power system configurations and environmental controls for end customer records.
- Mpower-related changes and maintenance follow internal procedures and industry compliance standards (e.g., NEBS, NESC).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including field engineering, field decom teams, and customer PM’s and facilities contacts, to support infrastructure upgrades and maintenance windows.
Required Qualifications
- 5 years of experience working with DC power systems in telecommunications or service provider environments.
- Strong understanding of -48V DC power systems, rectifiers, VRLA and/or Li-ion battery technologies.
- Familiarity with HVAC systems used in telecom shelters and cabinets.
- Proficient in interpreting electrical diagrams, site power schematics, and engineering documentation.
- Experience with integrated power and environment monitoring systems.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to work independently in field environments.
- Working knowledge of industry standards and best practices (e.g., NEBS, NESC, OSHA).
Salary : $110,000 - $145,000
