Job Description
Swim Instructor will provide swim lessons and lifeguard supervision, assist with pool operations, and monitor participant progress. Under the supervision of the Assistant Aquatics Manager, this position is
responsible for effectively delivering swimming instructions to participants of all ages and ensuring the safety of patrons in and around the facility.
Pay
$16-$20 per hour
Job Type
Part-time (minimum 6 hours per week)
Shift and Schedule
• Weekday morning from 9:00 a.m. –1:00 p.m.
• Weekday evening from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
• Weekends from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Qualifications/Skills
• Must be 16 years of age
• Strong work ethic and commitment to consistent attendance
• Understanding of all four swim strokes
• Ability to meet physical requirements of the job required to safely lead aquatics programs
• Good understanding of swim pool operations and emergency action plans
• Have a positive, fun-loving, and enthusiastic attitude toward youth and adult members alike
• Safe and age-appropriate strategies in interactions with members
• Patience and flexibility along with ability to work in a team environment
• Resume and reference letters upon request
Certificates/Licenses
• American Red Cross CPR/AED Certification
• Valid identification document
Experience
• Previous experience working with children is preferred
• Previous competitive swimming experience is preferred
Responsibilities
• Deliver lessons in group, semi-private, or private setting to students of all ages
• Maintain a safe pool environment, have knowledge of emergency procedures, and be able to open and close the pool for operations
• Assist with pool management and maintenance activities
• Track attendance, evaluate progress, and document evaluations
• Introduce new members to the swim program and facilitate signup process
Working Conditions
• Must be able to stand by poolside or remain in water for extended periods
• Must be able to lift and carry items up to 50 pounds
• Exposure to humidity, warm temperature, communicable disease, and bodily fluids
