Qualifications:
- Track record of exemplary instruction and classroom management skills, including meeting high standards for student achievement.
- Proven ability to proactively and effectively coach and manage teachers and drive excellent student achievement through others.
- Superior organizational skills, ability to coach others to improve their organizational skills and efficiency, and ability to “zoom out” to create and manage systems and projects that require long range planning and organization.
- Strong self awareness and awareness of others. Ability to balance “warm/demanding” when leading adults.
- Growth mindset for self and others; willingness to seek feedback and ability to implement constructive feedback quickly and effectively
- Expertise in research-based and culturally responsive literacy and social studies teaching, Minnesota state standards, curriculum development and mapping, student learning, test analysis, mentoring, and professional development, as demonstrated through either certifications, advanced degrees, or previous experiences
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of effective instruction sufficient to analyze, describe, model and assess each element of the teaching process
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Ability to work individually and as a team member in fulfilling the job and in meeting the goals of the program
- Ability to develop parent education opportunities in order to deepen home/school connections in literacy
- Currently licensed teacher in State of Minnesota (Required)
- Masters in Education (preferred)
- Experience lead teaching between grades K-12 with a record of high student achievement (3 years)
- Experience coaching and leading adults to obtain high student achievement (1 years)
- Knowledge of Science of Reading and Structured Literacy, Responsive Classroom, and Courageous Conversations about Race protocols (all preferred)
- Spanish speaker (preferred but not required)
Responsibilities:
- Serve as a Literacy and Social Studies coach to educators in either the K-4 or 5-8 grade bands, with activities including goal setting, conducting formal and informal observations, providing ongoing feedback and observation debriefs, modeling lessons, co-planning, co-teaching, analyzing student work and data, and facilitating self-evaluation continuously. The coach will provide materials, resources, ideas, suggestions, model lessons, and other opportunities for educators to grow as culturally responsive educators and will document coaching activities with educators through collaborative professional development plans.
- Facilitate effective professional development through weekly meetings based on research-based best practice and field tested strategies proven to be effective with Partnership Academy students.
- Attend weekly leadership team meetings and meetings with the Culture Team to collaborate and contribute actively to a school-wide plan for student success and positive school culture.
- Facilitate parent education events at least 4 times per year that promote bilingual literacy and social studies development in ways that are culturally responsive and engaging.
- Work toward independent supervision of educators, including evaluation, conflict resolution, progressive support and discipline, professional improvement plans, and human resources management.
- Other duties as assigned - the Literacy and Social Studies Coach will be an integral member of the school community in order to promote a literacy rich, culturally responsive, and positive environment for students.
