Cost Accountant

Job Summary:
We are seeking a Cost Accountant to join our team in Worcester, MA. The ideal candidate will be responsible for analyzing and managing cost data to support financial planning, budgeting, and decision-making. This role requires strong analytical skills, experience in cost accounting principles, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze and monitor manufacturing or service costs, including material, labor, and overhead expenses.
- Develop and maintain standard cost models and perform variance analysis.
- Conduct inventory valuation, cost roll-ups, and reconciliations.
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting related to cost analysis.
- Support pricing strategies by evaluating cost structures and margins.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and provide recommendations for process improvements.
- Work closely with operations, procurement, and finance teams to ensure accurate cost tracking.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accurate financial reporting.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies related to cost accounting.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3 years of cost accounting experience, preferably in a [manufacturing/construction/healthcare] environment.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar) and strong Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs).
- Knowledge of standard costing, job costing, and inventory valuation.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CPA, CMA, or MBA is a plus.
