Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced Caseworker with extensive knowledge of child care and community resources that maximize the well-being of families and development of young children. Candidates should be able to interview families, maintain participant records, and share information on available community services and resources.
To be successful as a Caseworker, candidates should be skilled at active listening, noticing and solving problems, and understanding social cues. Additionally, candidates should be able to communicate information clearly and demonstrate excellent judgment and decision making.
Responsibilities
- Assist parents with locating and evaluating quality child care services and resources to meet the needs and preferences of their families.
- Educate caregivers and the community about quality early childhood and school-age care.
- Understand families’ needs through one-on-one consultations in person, by phone, and/or by virtual meeting.
- Provide families with consumer education materials and referrals, and help them secure needed community services and resources.
- Deliver educational, parent-oriented seminars or webinars, such as “Choosing Quality Childcare.”
- Develop opportunities for parent outreach activities and participate in outreach events targeting diverse populations.
- Establish contacts with professionals and agencies who serve families with young children and coordinate distribution of consumer education materials to them.
- Enter parent and childcare provider data into databases such as Work Life Systems maintaining accurate and up-to-date information.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood or another human services field.
- Three years’ experience providing services to children, families and/or child care providers.
- Strong computer skills and knowledge of database and relevant software.
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail and problem solving skills.
- Ability to use empathetic listening skills in sensitive relationships.
- Ability to maintain positive working relationships
- Bilingual in English/Spanish is beneficial.
- Valid NC driver’s license required.
- Moderate travel in Cumberland and surrounding counties.
- Occasional weeknight and weekend availability for outreach events and trainings.
