Qualifications:

Desired Knowledge
· Knowledge of and experience with provision of culturally sensitive, indirect services for children birth-5 and their families in early care and education settings
· Knowledge of and experience with evidence-based interventions and tools used to address social/emotional and behavioral health concerns with children including, but not limited to, the Center on the Social and Emotional Foundations for Early Learning (CSEFEL) Pyramid Model and toolkit, Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and Conscious Discipline
Basic Function of Position:
To provide support to children ages birth-5 years old with behavioral and/or social/emotional health concerns by assisting childcare providers and families in identifying children who may benefit from social/emotional intervention and services. At the request of the childcare provider and with parental consent, observe and evaluate children’s needs; plan classroom strategies; build capacity of staff and families to support children with behavior concerns; and when indicated, develop intervention plans to address the behavior challenges that interfere with learning. Technical assistance will be offered through collaborative consultation, modeling, coaching and training.
Specific Duties:
1. Work collaboratively with families and child care facilities in Lincoln and Gaston Counties to assess, plan, implement and evaluate strategies to support children identified with behavioral and/or social/emotional concerns.
2. Offer targeted and comprehensive consultation based on and tailored to the identified needs of children in care.
3. Provide education and social/emotional and behavioral health training to improve social/emotional health knowledge and skill development of child care staff.
4. Provide consultation and training for child care staff and families.
5. Establish and maintain ongoing working relationships and coordinates with other professionals offering behavioral and social/emotional supports to young children and their families and to early care and educations settings.
6. Liaison to local health professionals and community service agencies by offering social/emotional and behavioral health education, community information and referral resources to facilities and families.
7. Promote collaboration between local child care and health care providers, Child Care Resource and Referral (CCR&R) and the North Carolina Division of Child Development (NCDCD).
8. Complete and submit required quarterly and end-of-year data reports reflective of the provision of technical assistance, training, community collaboration, and other performance-related activities.
9. Participate in on-going professional development offered by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI), National Center for Pyramid Model Innovations (NCPMI), the Devereux Center for Resilient Children (DCRC), Conscious Discipline and others targeting behavioral health of young children.
10. Meet/exceed established performance goals and benchmarks.
11. Other Duties as assigned by the Program Manager and Executive Director.
