Please note that the LIHEAP and LIHWAP programs are temporary. Training for this program starts in October. These programs will continue for several months based on funding availability. While the main office is in Decatur we are also hiring for locations in Norcross and Conyers.

Position Objectives:
The Intake Worker is responsible for the daily intake of information pertaining to the Low-Income Heating Assistance Program (LIHEAP) or Low-Income Home Water Assistance Program (LIHWAP). The position is required to perform other tasks as they relate to the program. The Intake Worker must be able to maintain client confidentiality and be respectful and courteous to all clients.
Essential Job Functions: Core Job duties and responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned.
- Complete Energy applications for LIHEAP/LIHWAP and SCANA.
- Collect required documents and calculate income of LIHEAP/LIHWAP clients according to Georgia Department of Human Resources (DHR) guidelines.
- Maintain confidentiality of all office records and information.
- Possess strong working knowledge of general mathematics.
- Willingness to travel when necessary.
- Conduct home visits when necessary.
- Willingness to perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA’s) Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Skilled in operating a personal computer.
- Minimum 1 year office experience.
- Professional demeanor.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Must have the ability to exercise sound judgement, open communication, and courtesy in performing assigned duties.
- Must exercise confidentiality with client information.
- Must be task oriented and able to meet day to day program goals.
- Organization and an eye for detail is a must.
- Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with other staff members. And hold the agency in high regard.
