About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Process Optimization Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for researching, designing, developing, implementing, and improving processes to enhance schedule performance, lower costs, and improve quality within our high-volume automotive distribution and logistics environment.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in labor management and experience working in high-volume automotive manufacturing or warehousing environments. You will have the ability to holistically analyze overall material flow processes and implement process improvements using continuous improvement techniques such as Lean, TPM, and Kaizen.
You will work closely with our cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes that drive efficiency and cost savings. Your strong communication and influencing skills will enable you to effectively collaborate with both hourly staff and senior managers.
Key Responsibilities
- Utilize engineering methods such as mathematical models, simulation, and statistics to assist in developing optimal process designs and efficient utilization of resources.
- Develop meaningful productivity metrics and KPIs for large-scale automotive warehousing environments.
- Surveys, benchmarks, and develops gap analysis to industry benchmark KPIs for order fulfillment, receipts, picks, put-aways, and shipments in automotive Tier 1 or OEM environments.
- Lead projects to close gaps to industry benchmarks and regularly surveys equipment suppliers, 3PLs, OEMs, and other third parties for productivity and service level improvements enabled by emerging technologies.
- Assist with material flow path modeling and optimal bin/container/location design to minimize travel distances, reduce errors/defects, and ensure reliability of critical scale processes.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Four-Year College Degree in Engineering, Materials Management, or equivalent.
- A minimum of five years of experience working in high-volume automotive manufacturing or warehousing environments.
- Labor management background/experience required.
- Strong ability to holistically analyze overall material flow processes and implement process improvements.
- Ability to apply continuous improvement techniques such as Lean, TPM, and Kaizen.
- Spanish language required.
