The Dean of Student Wellness & Support Services is a full-time, 12-month academic administrator position, reporting to the Assistant Superintendent/Vice President overseeing Instruction and Student Services. The Dean assures optimal operation of the division through the management of day-to-day and long-term operations. The Dean manages, leads, and develops several departments under the umbrella of Student Wellness & Student Services such as, yet not limited to, disability assessment and accommodations, psychological services and support, personal health and wellness, and marginalized student populations, such as student veterans. The Dean assures compliance with professional practice and regulatory standards, as well as anticipates and resolves a variety of disability-related, psychological, health and wellness, and student veterans and all related barriers and issues that may impact students, staff, and faculty within the division.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
- Plans, organizes, and manages the daily operations of the Student Wellness & Support Services division, including, but not limited to: Disabled Student Programs & Services (DSP&S), Student Health Services (health clinic), Personal/Mental Health Counseling, and Crisis Prevention and Response Team (CPART/CARE Team), and the Veterans Resource Center. Leads, develops, and facilitates student development and rights and responsibilities (conduct/discipline) processes and procedures.
- Supervises employees within the department including full time tenured faculty, adjunct faculty, classified staff, professional experts, student workers, interpreters on contract; plans and evaluates performance of employees; establishes performance requirements and personal development targets; monitors performance and provides coaching for performance improvement and development. Anticipates, prevents, mediates, and resolves conflicts, problems, and complaints within the division such as health, psychological, disability-related services to students.
- Assures compliance with all relevant professional practice standards, policies, procedures, codes, regulations, and laws; coordinates with municipal, state, and federal agencies; prepares and submits variety of required or desired reports, including to governmental regulatory agencies. These include but are not limited to: ADA, HIPPA, FERPA, Title V, and experience responding to federal and state audits, OCR issues, etc.
- Manages annual budget, including general fund, equipment, categorical programs, grants, Trust and Agencies accounts, PCC Foundation accounts and other programs and projects; approves expenditures.
- Completes program and unit plans; program reviews; development and assessment of student learning outcomes and serves as an active and engaged member of the Student Services area leadership team. Submits regular reports of division assessment and outcomes to the Assistant Superintendent/Vice President of Student Services and other entities within the district to further develop their departments. Provides overall planning of the Student Wellness & Support Services division to assure optimal program operations, and commitment of staff to the college's mission, values, goals, and objectives.
- Serves as needed as an administrator in charge over the Office of Assistant Superintendent/Vice President of Student Services as designated.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Possession of a master's degree in a related discipline from an accredited college or university
- Two (2) years of increasingly responsible leadership experience in student affairs or a closely related student services area demonstrating the ability to plan, supports, organize, facilitates, and directs a comprehensive student services division in a multiethnic district environment.
- Possession of a doctorate degree in a related student development discipline.
- Experience working and/or supporting any area within the Student Wellness and Support Services division.
- Experience working with the following areas: student health and wellness; physiological services; student leadership groups and centers; CARE (student crisis response and assessment of high-risk students) team; student rights and responsibility (conduct and development) various processes and procedures; and students and programs that support high risks and complex needs.
- Administrative experience at the community college level or equivalent.
- Working knowledge of administrative management systems, including but not limited to: LancerPoint (intranet) and Kronos (time reporting system).
- Plan, organize, and coordinate operations with a strategic focus on achieving the college's goals and objectives.
- Foster a work environment that promotes a robust learning environment for students, including knowledge of universal design for accessibility.
- Be innovative and nimble in developing plans to bridge critical gaps in service provision, especially in response to uncertainties in funding, staffing availability, and changing student needs.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines, policies, rules, and regulations, including a strong understanding of applicable laws and codes.
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing, including the ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with stakeholders.
- Supervise, support, and develop a diverse staff, demonstrating project management skills and the ability to handle simultaneous projects.
- Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action, especially in problem-solving and conflict resolution within an academic and student services environment.
- Demonstrate knowledge of budget preparation and management, recognizing the issues and requirements specific to California Community Colleges.
- Work effectively in a participatory manner with all segments of a college community, adapting to a multiethnic environment with diverse learning styles and abilities.
