MRI Technologist
Description: The purpose of this position is to provide MRI scan examinations to patients of all ages. The MRI Technologists utilize magnetic resonance imaging scanners to capture specific images ordered by a physician to aid in patient diagnosis. MRI techs must be able to closely follow a physician's instructions, prepare and operate MRI equipment, position patients correctly and effectively record the requested diagnostic images. Medical MRI technologist jobs may require a moderate amount of physical activity working with the equipment and maneuvering patients.
Objectives: The MRI Technologists will assure that each patient gets the maximum thorough study possible and receives the highest standards of patient care at all times. There should be self-motivation to increase the level of understanding and knowledge of the field. Should have the ability to establish IV access for contrast administration
Duties Responsibilities: The technologist operates magnetic resonance imaging equipment to produce images of the body for diagnostic purposes. Explain procedure to patient, position and immobilize patient on exam table, have the ability to establish IV access for contrast administration and observe during scan under direction of physician. You will be required to encourage patients to comply with difficult techniques and empathize, counsel and reassure patients who are nervous and apprehensive. Monitor video display of area being scanned and adjust density or contrast to improve picture quality. Review and evaluate computer generated information to determine if images are satisfactory for diagnostic purposes. Use magnet safety practices and screen all patients and employees who enter magnet areas. Work with department information system and PACS system. Have the ability to work independently and adapt to dynamic work volumes. Be able to perform other duties as assigned. It is expected that all duties and responsibilities of this position be carry out in a manner that reflects the values of Gulf Coast MRI Diagnostic.
Qualifications: Graduate of a two-year radiological technology program. Need to have Certificate, AAS, BS or MS in Radiologic Technology, etc. Required licensures include American Registry of Radiologic Technologists license in Radiography (ARRT- R) and Texas Department of Health Medical Radiologic Technologist General Certification (TDH-MRT, category G) etc. There must be CPR certification through either the Red Cross or the American Heart Association. American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Technologist license in Magnetic Resonance (ARRT-MR) is a bonus. Need to have minimum of one-year experience as a registered Radiologic technologist or a modality in the radiology field. Previous MRI experience is preferred.
