PSI formed a joint venture, Mission Assurance Alliance LLC (MAA) with Longenecker & Associates, Inc. (L&A) to provide technical services to the NNSA Pantex Facility in Amarillo, TX. MAA is an integrated team subcontractor to Pantex M&O contractor, PanTeXas Deterrence, LLC (PXD) and as a PXD’s partner, MAA makes meaningful contributions to PXD’s success in mission assurance, nuclear safety, operations and project delivery.

Clearance: Requires a Q clearance; however, all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.

Location: Amarillo, TX with minimal travel (up to 30%)

Responsibilities

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Evaluate changes to nuclear explosives operations, facilities, and equipment to ensure that safe nuclear explosives operations are established and maintained.
  • Ensures that hazards associated with explosives and nuclear explosives operations and facilities are identified, evaluated, mitigated, and/or controlled to prevent accidental detonation or deflagration of explosives and unintended nuclear detonation.
  • Evaluate operating procedures, tooling, equipment, projects, and perform walk downs of operations and facilities against the requirements of the DOE 452-Series orders and supplemental directive.
  • May be instructed to develop, implement or authorize process or procedure modifications by evaluation how proposed changes potentially affect nuclear explosives operations.
  • Apply scientific principles, mathematics, and material science to the evaluation of nuclear explosives operations against federal safety requirements.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for nuclear explosives safety on assigned areas and operations.
  • Directly interface with numerous groups and customers, including Production Integration, Operations, Engineering as well as the NNSA Production Office, NA-121, Design Agencies and DNFSB.

Minimum Qualifications / Education / Experience

Bachelor of Science in Engineering/science discipline

Bachelor of Science in Engineering/Physical Science must be from an engineering Accreditation program in the United States or designated equivalents from Canada or Mexico, the Washington Accord, or the list of substantially equivalent as documented by ABET. In addition, the applicant must meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2 (i.e., Baccalaureate in engineering or related science, 2 years job-related and at least 1-year nuclear experience, or a DOE O 426.2 alternative).

Required Knowledge & Skills

  • Knowledge of DOE/NNSA programs and projects preferably at Pantex
  • Understanding of NNSA missions and organization
  • Adept at problem solving and finding/fixing problems early
  • Good communication skills
  • Commitment to PSI values and ability to represent PSI in a highly effective manner in interactions with DOE and other clients.
  • Demonstrated ability to make decisions and communicate across organizations.
  • Ability to effectively support and work effectively amongst diverse and geographically distributed staff and projects.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills, including the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks.
