JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for collaborating and supporting Access Curriculum Programs at the Elementary and Secondary level for our students with the most cognitive disability.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Facilitate effective team-based collaborative action planning and problem-solving processes related to academics and behavior.
2. Collect and analyze multiple sources of classroom data and individual student data to inform the problem-solving process.
3. Disseminate evidence-based content knowledge of academic interventions to address student needs.
4. Assist in building capacity around preparing and implementing varied educational materials, lesson plans, media, and technology based on standards that are in alignment with state-adopted materials.
5. Provide evidence-based professional development and instructional coaching with school teams.
6. Provide specialized instructional techniques through individual or group sessions designed to meet the needs of students through differentiated instruction based on student learning needs and recognition of individual differences in students.
7. Plan and implement self-care programs to provide direct assistance to students including, but not limited to, toileting, positioning, lifting, feeding, etc.
8. Assist in building the capacity of problem-solving knowledge related to academics and behavior with school-based teams.
9. Confer with other teachers and staff concerning any educational needs of students identified as eligible for Exceptional Student Education (ESE) services.
10. Collaborate with teams to develop a functional behavior assessment (FBA) for students as required, so that a behavior intervention plan (BIP) is created, implemented, and reviewed/revised with the use of data as needed to assist a student in improving or replacing certain identified behaviors.
11. Collaborate with school personnel in coordinating ESE services within the school.
12. Attend training sessions, conferences, and workshops as assigned to keep abreast of current practices programs, and regulations.
13. Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of various academic and behavioral interventions to address student needs
- Ability to effectively engage in the problem-solving process
- Ability to work collaboratively with others and facilitate groups to consensus
- Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences, orally and in writing, including electronic media
- Ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with all stakeholders
- Excellent time management skills and ability to organize, prioritize, and manage work assignments in an efficient manner and within established timeframes
- Ability to facilitate data-based discussions with school-based teams
- Operating knowledge of computer programs, including email, word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and web-based technologies and platforms
EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in the field of Exceptional Student Education
- Minimum of three years' experience in the area of assignment
- OR
- Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the position
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES & REGISTRATIONS
- Valid Florida Educator’s Certificate in the field of Exceptional Student Education (ESE)
- Valid Florida Driver's License
