The Cashier/Property Technician is a civilian position for Pasco County Corrections. This position is responsible for the control, storage, and retrieval of the monies and property of all inmates housed at the Land O' Lakes Corrections Center. Additionally, this position is responsible for processing payments and receipts for cash bonds and cash purges.
Processes the property and monies of all inmates entering the facility, stores property in the Property Room, and enters property inventories in computer. Prepares receipts for all processed property and monies and presents them to inmates to review and sign. Maintains and files sign in sheets for the Property Room. Locates the property of inmates being released and moves it to the dress out area. Prepares the property of inmates being sent to other county/state correctional facilities. Properly disposes of clothing items contaminated with blood or other bodily fluids. Reports and documents any contraband found while inventorying property. Washes soiled clothing. Stores and documents lost or abandoned items in the lost and found area. Answers inmate requests and sends property to housing when authorized by policy. Forwards paperwork to Classification. Ensures proper security of keys. Receives monies from new inmates, bonds, cash purges, child support purges, meal tickets, and car wash tickets. Verifies that all cash deposits are correct. Scans all monies to detect counterfeits. Maintains meal ticket log. Accepts, time stamps, and forwards security bonds to Release Officer. Writes cash bond, cash purge, and child support purge receipts. Reviews and processes inmate property releases. Verifies the inmate cash drawer whenever assuming duty in the Cashiers Office and at the end of shift. Releases the property of inmates leaving the facility on the computer. Files all appropriate paperwork in inmates’ safes. Prepares cash refunds and cash cards for inmates leaving the facility. Forwards bond receipts to the Clerk of Court. Maintains ledgers for all cash accounts. Forwards all appropriate paperwork to the Inmate Processing Sergeant. Frequently requires bending, kneeling, squatting, lifting, moving, pushing, and pulling objects weighing up to 25lbs. Performs related work as required.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. One (1) year of experience with property and cash handling or related field preferred. Experience with Microsoft Office is preferred.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS: Must possess a valid Florida driver's license.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Unescorted CJIS clearance as authorized by FDLE will be required.
