JOIN OUR TEAM AS A FIELD INSPECTOR I - BUILDING!
The Pasco County Building Construction Services department is currently seeking to fill the Field Inspector I-Building position. The Field Inspector I- Building role includes technical work in inspecting building construction, alteration, and repair to enforce compliance with adopted building codes.
- Knowledge of the materials and methods used in general building construction.
- Knowledge of the building trade and of stages of construction when possible defects and violations may most easily be observed and corrected.
- Ability to understand established codes.
- Ability to recognize faulty construction or hazardous conditions.
- Ability to read and interpret building construction plans and specifications.
- Ability to enforce codes and regulations firmly, tactfully, and impartially.
- Ability to maintain records and to prepare and submit reports.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, contractors, engineers, and the general public.
- Knowledge of construction codes.
- Knowledge of County ordinances and policies dealing with licensing.
- Knowledge of State statutes dealing with construction and licensing.
- Ability to operate a computer.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Applicants must have five (5) years of experience in building construction trade as a supervisor, foreman, building contractor, or building inspector. This experience must be verifiable and signed off by a contractor, engineer or architect or they will not qualify to apply for the provisional Building Inspector license.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS: Must possess a valid Florida driver's license. Applicants must obtain provisional license as a Building Inspector within 120 days of date of hire. Applicants must have five (5) years of verified experience, signed off by a contractor, engineer or architect to be able to qualify to be provisionally licensed as a Building Inspector and to take the inspector examination. Applicants must successfully pass examinations to achieve F.S. 468 Standard Certification as a Building Inspector within one (1) year from date of hire in order to fulfill minimum Building Inspector I certification on standards.
