JOIN OUR TEAM AS A GIS TECHNICIAN!Performs research of County file system to produce data for input to Geographic Information System (GIS) data input and computerized drafting.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Performs research and documentation to produce data for input into GIS. Creates data base layers. Inputs data and produces maps, reports, and graphics. Performs macro programming for mapping and job efficiency. Produces maps, presentations, and graphics. Prepares general reports.Operates, maintains GIS related equipment – plotter, printer, digitizer, and various computer terminals and workstations.Plots legal descriptions using coordinate geometry. Corrects and writes legal descriptions when necessary. Operates a Countywide computer system in addition to GIS. Performs related work as required.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
PHYSICAL SKILLS: Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, written and visual communication.EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Two (2) years' of experience using ARC/INFO or equivalent GIS mapping software. College level courses in Geography or Computer Science preferred. Arc Macro Language (AML) or Visual Basic Application programming preferred.LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS: Must possess a valid Florida driver's license.ADA STATEMENT: A qualified employee or applicant with a disability may be afforded a reasonable accommodation to perform the essential job functions of a position in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.DRUG-FREE WORKPLACE: Pasco County BOCC is a drug-free workplace in accordance with Federal and Florida law.EMERGENCY RESPONSE/RECOVERY ACTIVITIES: All employees will be required to work before, during, or after an emergency.
