What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pump Station Mechanic position at Pasco County?
The role of Pump Station Mechanic involves assisting Pump Station Lead Mechanic work in the maintenance, fabrication, and repair of electrical and mechanical equipment related to wastewater pump stations.
Installs, overhauls, repairs, services, and maintains equipment such as, but not limited to pumps, motors, gas and diesel engines, meters, gauges, compressors, blowers, valves, backchecks. Revamps pump stations, maintains 240/480 electrical system control panels. Maintains well motors and A/C-D/C control systems. Works with power tools. Paints equipment as required. Checks and adjusts equipment. Maintains service records. Performs related work as required. Perform and participate with safe practices of confined space entries. Submits requisitions for equipment and materials, reviews work orders for priority, clarity, and completeness. Distributes and completes work orders (CMMS) to appropriate personnel.- Knowledge of methods and techniques used in the installation, repair and maintenance of a wide variety of electrical motors, pumps, and mechanical equipment.
- Ability to make inspections to determine operating conditions and needed repairs pumping equipment.
- Ability to work from blueprints, pencil sketches, or written and oral instructions.
- Ability to use a variety of mechanic's tools and shop equipment in the installation, repair, and maintenance of pump station equipment.
- Knowledge of 240/480 A/C-D/C control systems.
- Ability to read for comprehension.
- Must have a telephone and be available to overtime as well as mandatory on-call rotation.
- Ability to interpret and utilize SCADA system.
- Ability to lift up to 80 pounds.
PHYSICAL SKILLS: Ability to lift up to 80 pounds. Ability to bend, climb, walk, stoop, and squat frequently. Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, written, and visual communication.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS: Must possess a valid Florida driver's license. Must obtain a Florida CDL Class "B" temporary permit within thirty (30) days from date of hire and a permanent license within six (6) months from date of hire. Must obtain a Florida Wastewater "C" Certificate within eighteen (18) months date of hire.
