The Behavioral Health Technician 2 (BHT2) is a case manager and/or BHT with several years of experience who helps their clinical team by providing case management, completing comprehensive assessments, placement coordination and transport. The BHT2 will have opportunities to develop professionally by-cofacilitating groups, coordinate meetings, conduct outreach and participate in professional development training to enhance case management and clinical skills.
  1. Perform case management activities, such as assessing patient eligibility for benefits programs, consulting with other departments and agencies to coordinate care for patients, and participate in staff meetings to determine best treatment for patients
  2. Conducts educational programs; monitor topics and provide input into structure of group. Conduct educational groups when a supervisor is not present.
  3. Conduct comprehensive assessments and complete intake documentation.
  4. Screen and enroll clients in the behavioral health system or Sewa Uusim programs and/or TRBHA programs.
  5. Responsible for coordinating contract services;
  6. Track all residential placements for clients;
  7. Document important information and client contacts in charts and assist in charting client progress.
  8. Provide information to clients regarding client rights and ensure their rights are protected.
  9. Conduct outreach activities and provides information about programs and group therapy.
  10. Participate on Treatment Team Review Meetings (TTR) and as a member of the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team and TMDR.
  11. Transport clients to scheduled program activities including support groups, community events, and vocational recreational activities.
  12. Participate in community events and prevention activities as required by Program Manager.
  13. Perform other duties of a similar nature or level as requested by supervisor or director.
Additional Focus Area Duties and Responsibilities:
Specialized functions for Yoeme Kari may include:
  • Assist residents learn and develop life skills by supervising and participating in daily house routines, including preparing meals;
  • Assist in orienting and introducing new residents to the group home;
  • Plan recreational outings for clients;
  • Provide in-house therapeutic and social educational groups.
Specialized functions for Men?s Path may include:
  • Responsible for maintaining daily bed count log, drafts incident reports and provides requisite documentation in client files;
  • Responsible for assisting clients with weekly menu planning, shopping budget and weekend/holiday activity schedules;
  • Requires knowledge of addictions, theories and treatment methods, with emphasis on populations of poverty, Native American populations and gender issues;
  • Basic understanding of the Twelve Step Program;
  • Provide in-house therapeutic and social educational groups.
Specialized functions for Adult Team may include:
  • Authorize placements with facilities for admission;
  • Coordinate with hospital and treatment facility discharges and entry into outpatient follow up treatment plans.
Specialized functions for Child?s Team may include:
  • Responsible for setting up respite placement of children;
  • Provides mentoring and life skill groups for youth;
  • Provides outreach services and educational programs to children and their families;
  • Coordinate the CSP staff meetings.
Specialized functions for New Beginnings Program may include:
  • Coordinates services with other behavioral health components such as Domestic Violence, Alcohol and Substance Abuse Program and other Tribal programs;
  • Establishes and maintains communications with Tribal and local courts on clients treatment compliance.
Specialized functions for Sewa Uusim may include:
  • Responsible for setting up and conducting family Wraparound Meetings;
  • Coordinate Natural support referrals to Alternative Medicine, Tribal Healers, other programs;
  • Responsible for conduction Life Skills groups with Youth and Young Adults;
  • Review Treatment Plans and write observational notes, attend staffing and provided specialized clinical support services as directed;
  • Conduct Special Summer/Winter and School Break activities.
Specialized functions for the Guadalupe Program may include:
  • Authorize admission and placements with sub-contract facilities and agencies;
  • Coordinate with hospitals and treatment facilities regarding discharges and entry into out-patient follow up treatment plans;
  • Responsible for setting up respite placement of children;
  • Provides mentoring and life-skill groups for youth;
  • Provides outreach services and educational programs to children and their families;
  • Coordinate CFT meetings.
  • Work with high needs SMI clients.
Knowledge of:
  • Interviewing and psychological assessment techniques;
  • Psycho-educational and psychotherapeutic principles, practices and techniques in the treatment of child and family behavioral health issues;
  • Best practices in the assessment and treatment of behavioral health problems;
  • Law and ethics as related to behavioral health practice;
  • Management of behavioral health crisis including risk assessment, crisis intervention techniques, crisis resources, and hospitalization protocols;
  • HIPAA requirements of behavioral health;
  • Yaqui culture, customs, resources and traditions and/or a willingness to learn.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Interview and psychological assessment techniques;
  • Psycho-educational and psychotherapeutic principles, practices and techniques in the treatment of adult and family behavioral health issues, including substance abuse recovery methods;
  • Best practices for the assessment and treatment of behavioral health problems;
  • Law and ethics as related to behavioral health practice;
  • Management of behavioral health crisis, including risk assessment, crisis intervention techniques, crisis resources and hospitalization protocols;
  • Yaqui culture, customs, resources and traditions or willingness to learn;
  • Operate a variety of office equipment, including a computer and related software applications;
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with co-workers, supervisor, management, Council members, and the public. Have ability to sufficiently exchange or convey information and receive verbal and written work instructions.
Associate's Degree in Behavioral Health or BHT Certification equivalent or two (2) years of experience in a behavioral health setting; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
AND
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred but not required.

Special Requirements:
  • CPR and First Aid Certifications or obtain within ninety (90) days of hire. Failure to maintain a current CPR and First Aid Certification may result in termination.
  • Employment at the Yoeme Kari Group Home or Men's Path requires incumbents to be at least 21 years old;
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona Driver's License.
  • This position may be required to work non-traditional hours, nights, and weekends.
  • Must have a current Level 1 Arizona Clearance Card. Failure to maintain a current Level 1 Clearance Card will result in termination.
