We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Vice President (VP) or Chief Operating Officer (COO) to lead our Freight Forwarding operations in the United States. This position will play a crucial role in overseeing the company’s forwarding business, managing key client relationships, and ensuring smooth coordination between U.S. operations and headquarters in Japan. The ideal candidate should have strong leadership experience in the freight forwarding industry, sales management skills, and operational expertise.
Key Responsibilities
1. Business Operations & Management
- Oversee and manage multiple forwarding locations across the U.S.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve operational efficiency and profitability in the forwarding business.
- Work closely with branch operations teams to ensure smooth execution of logistics services.
- Supervise the sales team and operational team to drive business growth.
- Monitor and manage budget planning and financial performance, reporting directly to the CEO.
2. Sales & Client Management
- Lead sales initiatives targeting Japanese clients, ensuring high service standards.
- Maintain and expand relationships with key corporate customers.
- Align U.S. sales and operational strategies with Japan headquarters.
- Support business development efforts to acquire new customers and strengthen partnerships.
3. Financial & Strategic Planning
- Handle budget planning, forecasting, and reporting to Japan headquarters.
- Ensure that financial targets, including revenue, cost efficiency, and profitability, are met.
- Develop strategic plans to enhance competitiveness in the freight forwarding industry.
4. People & Organizational Management
- Provide leadership, coaching, and performance management to direct reports.
- Oversee expatriate employees’ work conditions and support their operational needs.
- Drive an engaging and collaborative work culture while maintaining high standards.
Qualifications & Requirements
- 10 years of experience in the freight forwarding, logistics, or supply chain industry.
- Strong background in sales, operations, and budget management in the forwarding business.
- Proven leadership and management experience, ideally in a multinational or Japanese company.
- Bilingual (Japanese-English) preferred to facilitate communication with Japan HQ.
- Ability to work onsite daily (Los Angeles preferred).
- High energy, problem-solving mindset, and strong decision-making skills.
Salary : $180,000 - $200,000
