What are the responsibilities and job description for the Human Resources Assistant (PT) position at Passaic County Community College?
We are seeking a Human Resources Assistant. This person will perform a range of office duties with a high level of attention to detail and strong customer service skills to support the goal of the Office of Human Resources to provide extraordinary service to current and prospective employees of the College and the general public.
This is an entry-level, part-time, hourly position.
Example of Duties:
- Welcome and assist visitors to the Office of Human Resources.
- Assist with the appointment of new hires ensuring completion of required documents in our onboarding system, including the finalization of the I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification process.
- Create and/or maintain accurate electronic records/reports utilizing a variety of software applications.
- Provide customer service by responding to and managing telephone and electronic inquiries/requests from internal and external constituents, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
- Aid in processing benefit enrollments/status changes.
- Support the Human Resources staff with tasks as needed and assigned, including but limited to, filing, copying, producing letters and scheduling appointments.
- Complete special projects and tasks as assigned.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree required or four years of work experience in a Human Resources field.
- Minimum of two years of experience of related office experience required, preferably in a human resources environment.
- Excellent in-person and telephone communications skills required.
- Working knowledge of computer applications, including Microsoft Suite.
- Knowledge of Human Resources principles, practices and procedures preferred.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
The completion of a background check will be required for the selected candidate.
Compensation is determined by a variety of criteria, including but not limited to, previous relevant experience, education level, and certifications. The hourly pay range for this position is $20 - $22.
