What are the responsibilities and job description for the Math Tutor, PTC Program (PT) position at Passaic County Community College?
We are seeking a 0- and 100-Level Math tutor, who will report to the Pathways to Teacher Certification (PTC) Program Coordinator. This person will be responsible for providing tutoring on content spanning a variety of developmental and general education math courses to Passaic County Community College (PCCC) students, who are currently majoring in Teacher Education or Early Childhood Education, as well as students who are actively participating in any PTC programming during Academic Year 2024-2025. The subject matter to be tutored includes math topics covered in MA 010 Basic Mathematics, MA 010A Basic Mathematics A, MA 010B Basic Mathematics B, MA 022 Mathematics Fundamentals for Liberal Arts, MA 025 Accelerated Algebra, MA 025A Algebra A, MA 025B Algebra B, MA 101 College Mathematics I, MA 103 Basics Statistics, and MA 108 College Algebra. While the tutor will operate from a specified location on the College's Paterson campus, tutoring may be done in person or over Zoom.
Example of Duties:
- Offer academic support/tutoring to PCCC students, who are currently majoring in Teacher Education or Early Childhood Education and/or actively participating in any Academic Year 2024-2025 PTC programming, via in-person and/or Zoom sessions depending on each student's preference and availability.
- Maintain accurate tutoring records and record tutoring visits in TracCloud software system.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated proficiency in arithmetic, algebra, and basic statistical concepts is required.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills are required.
- Ability to work flexible hours including some evenings and/or weekends, as program requires.
