What are the responsibilities and job description for the Trio Student Support Services (SSS) Tutor (PT) position at Passaic County Community College?
We are seeking a qualified Professional Tutor to assist students in the following courses:
- Writing (includes Reading, Grammar, Pronunciation)
This is a part-time, hourly position.
Examples of Duties
- SSS Professional tutors are expected to participate in the overall academic and personal growth and development of participants.
- Provide subject-specific content to help students in understanding key concepts to improve academic performance.
- Enforce program policies and procedures at all times.
- Work closely with the Tutoring Coordinator to implement policies and procedures.
- Help students with content previously covered in the classroom.
Qualifications
- Associate's, Bachelor's, or Master's degree in a related field
- A or B in the relevant subject
- 3.25 GPA or higher
- Tutoring experience is preferred
- Must be able to work with staff and advise / teach / tutor students from diverse backgrounds; must be sensitive to student needs
- Must have a high level of flexibility and commitment to first-generation, under-resourced, college bound students
- Demonstrate professionalism, creativity, enthusiasm - and encourage student success
- The pay rate is based upon experience and academic degree attainment
