What are the responsibilities and job description for the Security Supervisor position at Passaic Valley Sewerage Commission?
The Passaic Valley Sewerage Commission (“PVSC”), a publicly-owned wastewater treatment facility located in Newark, New Jersey, is currently seeking a Security Supervisor. Created in 1902, PVSC is the 5th largest facility of its kind in the United States, directly serving approximately 1.5 million residents in 48 municipalities located in Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Passaic and Union Counties. The 140-acre plant is designed to treat an average of 330 million gallons per day (“mgd”) of wastewater with an annual average flow of approximately 241 mgd.
Position Summary: Security Supervisors are responsible for appropriate squad staffing and assignments which ensure the core mission of providing a safe and secure working environment for all PVSC employees, visitors and agents as well as ensuring that the structural facility is protected.
Education: High School Diploma or Vocational School Diploma, or the possession of an approved high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the security field, Law Enforcement or Military Service. Three (3) to five (5) years of supervisory experience in the Security field preferred.
License and/or Certifications: Annual CPR and AED Certification. Must have a valid New Jersey Driver's License.
Requirements: Ability to read, write, and speak English including the capability understand and carry out oral and written directions. Must be able to analyze information and make sound decisions and assignments based on that analytical process, supervise others, and be held accountable for actions and personnel.
Working Conditions: Workers are employed in conditions associated with a wastewater treatment plant and sewer collection system and may be required to work indoors and outdoors depending upon the nature of the position and may be exposed to inclement weather.
Physical Demands: Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without a reasonable accommodation to ensure the health and safety of oneself or others is maintained. Perform physical activities that require considerable use of the arms, legs, and the whole body such as climbing (including ladders), lifting up to 50 lbs., balancing, walking, stooping and handling heavy objects. Must qualify for and possess the ability to perform entry into confined spaces while wearing proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as, but not limited to, canister and dust masks as well as SCBA (Self Contained Breathing Apparatus).
