What are the responsibilities and job description for the Resident Project Representative/Construction Observation position at Passero Associates?
Passero Associates is excited to offer a career opportunity for a Resident Project Representative (RPR) / Construction Observation professional with civil and/or aviation experience. This is primarily a remote position, though the individual will need to travel to potential project sites – mostly located in Middle and South Georgia, and occasionally in North Florida. The length of time for these engagements will vary, with construction durations ranging from 30 days to 120 days, and requiring 2-5 days per week on site. Weekend work is rare, so the Passero team member will typically be able to return home on weekends. The role is primarily part-time; but may require full-time hours during active construction projects. During periods between projects, work hours will reduce, and the position will function as a part-time role.
The successful candidate will manage municipal and airport construction progress, including observing and coordinating construction work with internal staff, contractors, and subconsultants across multiple offices. Projects may include airfield pavement rehabilitation and expansion (asphalt and concrete), lighting, signage, and electrical improvements, utility, access, and parking improvements, terminal and hangar developments, storm water drainage improvements, fuel farm installations, and other aviation or municipal capital improvement projects.
We are looking for someone with a strong background in civil and/or aviation construction, and the ability to effectively manage construction projects while maintaining excellent communication with all stakeholders.
Responsibilities/Opportunities:
- Provide constructability reviews of construction plans.
- Observe construction activities on behalf of the engineer-of-record, determining if the work completed is in conformance with the construction plans and technical specifications.
- Prepare daily reports of construction activities, including photographic documentation.
- Attend pre-construction meetings and construction progress meetings.
- Review contractor pay applications to confirm that they represent work completed to date.
- Perform project site observations and prepare punch lists that detail work items to be addressed.
- Coordinate project tasks with subconsultants and project team members in other office locations.
Qualifications:
- Familiarity with FAA, GDOT, and FDOT specifications, standards, construction best practices, and procedures.
- Ability to effectively utilize web-based programs to complete daily reports, timesheets, and expense reports.
- Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs such as Outlook and Teams.
- Effective communication, organization, management, problem-solving, and technical writing skills.
- Focus on client service and integrity.
- Valid driver’s license and personal vehicle. Ability to travel to project sites, with overnight stays, as needed.
- Ability to obtain Airport Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge required, including Federal background check (with clear record).
Experience:
- 5 years providing construction observation/management at site development and/or transportation projects.
- Airport experience a plus.
- Observing and documenting construction activities and preparing daily progress reports.
- Coordinating resolution of construction field issues with contractor and engineering design team.
