What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dog Trainer Apprentice position at Passion Four Paws?
We currently have a unique opening on our Kennel Specialist team for an ambitious individual looking to pursue a career in dog training.
The position is part time with flexibility in hours due to seasonal and capacity fluctuations.
During initial training the Kennel Specialist will be educated in basic dog training skills - we require good behavior and manners from the dogs at our facility, and it is up to us to help them understand this!
Though initially a specialist all employees have the opportunity to work with other trainers to explore this field and will be given training tasks at almost every shift!
Responsibilities and Duties
- Dog walking
- Feedings and medication
- Snout-to-tail exams
- Basic dog grooming (bath, nail trim, brush)
- Poop patrol
- General housekeeping (dusting, sweeping, mopping, dishes, etc.)
- Deep cleaning as scheduled
- Customer service
- Emails to clients
- Social media updates (Facebook and Instagram)
- basic application of training pups
Qualifications and Skills
We require the following qualifications and skills for this position:
- Minimum of high-school-level education
- Experience handling dogs, preferably in a professional setting (i.e. dog walker, groomer, trainer, etc.)
- Existing knowledge of dog behavior OR strong desire to learn
- Professional email etiquette, including proper use of grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary
- Basic computer skills - we use Gmail, Google Docs, Gingr (reservations), Homebase (employee scheduling)
The candidate must also be passionate about providing impeccable service to our clients and their dogs under our care.
